May be some Antec P180 owner can enlighten me on how to remove the fan opposite to the power supply. The fan is attached to a holder which has just 4 clips on it and clips on to the vertical metal frame.

I tried to slide it while pushing the plastic clips IN to the metal (read it somewhere before) but there is no give. I do not want to break it with a scewdriver. I apply a fair amount of force, no dice.

So any idea on how to remove this fan without breaking it or my fingernails?

Thanks,

Mine was jammed in there too, what i did was slightly bend the 4 plastic clips/nubs a bit away from the case with a screwdriver then gave a tug and it came right out.

Look closely and you will see two smaller clips on the very top and bottom. Get a small scredriver and push those out, you should then be able take the fan holster out.

Thanks guys. Never thought I would be stumped by this.

@Saku,

The 2 small clips you referred to, are they diiferent from the 4 clips attached to the metal vertical bracket?

Yes they are different than the 4 clips, they are smaller and located near them. It stumped me when I first tried taking it out. They might not even look like clips to you, look at the metal vertical bracket and you will see the smaller rectangular cutouts on the very top and bottom.

Has anyone figured out a way to get a fan into the bottom front panel?

yes u have to cut out part of the metal. one you do that they *should* slide right in. you might need to mod the fans a little but it should work all the same.

Here's what you do. Grab the plastic "handle" sticking out towards you. Push it in slightly, let me repeat that, SLIGHTLY. Pull it to the left and out towards you at the same time. Reverse the procedure to reinstall.

Mucho gracious!!!

You guys are genius!!!

I asked the question, because I have had the misfortune of breaking plastic clips before and suffered the very damaging consequenses of them. Specifically on this very same P180B.

When I tried to take the front panel out there were 6 plastic clips which hold the panel to the metal frame. No problem with the 4 clips at the bottom but the 2 at the top refuse to budge so I used a screwdriver after I broke my fingernails. The panel came off allright. After inspecting and look at the drive enclosures I carefully put the panel back. That's when one of the clips at the top broke. I do not know why but it broke. I did not even use any force to break it either.

Please chime in if you know how to take the front panel off and put it back without breaking the clips.

Oh, I think Antec was nice enough to include another fan holder for the front fan. And thanks to you guys that's one of the clips I will not break.
