Antec P180b Vibration

The lower 120mm fan seems to be causing an audible vibration in the case. I live in a studio apartment so my comp is in my bedroom and if I leave it running at night I can hear it. It only started a couple of days ago and I've had the system for a few weeks.

I've isolated the lower fan as the cause since when I unplug it from the PSU the vibration ceases. It's as secure in its mounting as it can be. Anyone have any ideas for how to address this? I could unplug it altogether, but it blows directly on the PSU, so I'd rather leave it on if possible.

the fan may be bad? I have the fan there @medium speed (even high speed at one point) and no vibration.

I would suggest to leave the fan there. A few weeks back I took the fan out from there and suddenly my pc becomes unstable -- it would shut off abruptly or freeze. It turns out my Power Supply (550 NeoHE) was overheated so I put the fan back and I have no instability problem.

I use rubber arrow head fan mounts for vibration isolation on the lower fan of my P180.

I had a p180 tricool fan go bad the first week, it was a very annoying low pitched buzzing, like the kind when you get something stuck in a bicycle tire spoke. Theres really nothing you can do about it, just replace the fan.

Just throwing this out as a possibility, but maybe the fan has got bearing problems. A seized bearing would cause vibrations at any RPM.

The only solution would be fan replacement.

Thanks, I'm willing to give these a try. But isn't the bottom fan mounted with a sort of hook system? I didn't think it was screwed in.

I would call/email Antec. Their customer support is fantastic. I have had so many issues with my P180 but they always come through quickly.

If its an antec tricool, I'd replace it anyway. Get a Yate-loon for $4 and throw it in there instead.

i lost my drive rails and i only needed one and sent them an email stating this.

they sent me four and it got here right quick.

They sent me the 8-pin power cable extender to for the 550 NeoHE because it was short with P180.

Fan is screwed on to a bit of plastic that hooks pretty firmly on to the grill. Any vibration will be passed through to the case. You can with a bit of effort use the rubber screw replacements to attach the fan to the bit of plastic with the hooks on and isolate vibration.

I'd swap the fan with one of the other ones first to see if it's the fan that's bust - if so contact antec and get another.

I had this same problem, but only when I had the fan on high, once I lowered it to Medium, it went away...

It's the plastic shroud around the fan vibrating, i noticed if i pushed on the shroud, it would stop... the shroud is loose, if you could wedge something behind it, i imagine it would stop...
