antec pp-303x = loud

I just put together a duron 700 and it's running pretty cool (cpu = 40C, case = 25C) but the antec power supply (which is suppose to have a temperature controlled fan) is still blowing at full blast. Any ideas why?

It is defective. Mine is very quiet even when the fan kicks up. Probably a bad temp sensing circuit.

I agree with Yoshi. The 80mm Sunon fan, just below the PP303X on my KS282, is louder than the p/s fan.

Me too. I got ks282 from onvia and the power supply is not only loud but also produces a high frequency noise, which make me very uncomfortable. I think I got a defective one.
Anyone knows how to fix it? Thanks.

hmm, i got mine from onvia too, so what should i do? try to return it? that would leave me without a computer for at least a week =(

oh ya, the other 2 case fans are panaflos from teamawe, they are soooooooooooooooooooooo quiet!

My own pp-303x is very quiet. Bite the bullet for the RMA, or just live with it. Cracking one open voids the warranty.

The power supply fan in my new Antec 282 with PP303X always blows. Got it from Onvia.

I don't notice a different fan speed. It doesn't seem too loud, but not all that quiet either. Seems somewhat similar to last case. But I have two 80mm fans running too. The power supply puts out considerably LESS air than the 80 mm fan I mounted in back of my case.

I have the same powersupply in my KS188 case and it always blows too
but it is quiet, been running since March with no problems

Ditto here... 300watter in my ks188 and it never stops.
I dont think it is too loud, but it is hard to hear over my stupid CPU fan

Contacted Antec Tech Support via email. I even offered to bring mine in for them to look at since I live nearby....

I'll let you know what they say....

The Antec pp303x is not supposed to ever STOP blowing. It has a thermal sensor that is linked to a speed controller. So, if the temps aren't high, it slows down. When the temps rise, the fans speeds up. If it ever stops, then the fan or something in the circuit died.
