Antec PSU's & Neo2

Just got combo from Monarch, been running for a solid 7 days with ZERO problems - then I come home, hit the power button to start up, fans spin for a second, case lights come on, then everything stops.

I have disconnected AC to PSU, disconnected surge from wall, cleared CMOS, unplugged 20pin and 12v connectors from mb, tried a method to boot from suspend mode (which it wasn't in, earlier today I powered it down normally, I never use suspend), left mb battery out overnight, left cmos cleared overnight, set up system out of case on nonconductive surface, tried a different PSU with mb to witness same symptoms (my Antec PSU is still fine).

I can only get this to happen now: hit power button, fans spin up then down, hdd/system/power lights come on, then hdd light goes off BUT the system & power (yellow&green) lights blink ON and OFF at the same time, over and over until I hold the power button down for awhile - then system clicks off. Almost seems like its stuck in hibernation or something.

This has happened to many people on MSI forums:
http://forum.msi.com.tw/thread...=&hilightuser=0&page=1

Also found this info, which some speculate that the Antec and Neo2 have incompatible startup timings which could lead one to kill the other:

I knew that the older Antec PSU's had serious issues with the Abit AV8, and some reported issues with the Neo2 as well - that's why I RMA'd my old version and got a BRAND NEW Antec TP430 that was supposed to have all the bug fixes. Seems like there is something still going on between these two brands - I would suggest potential buyers find a different PSU or motherboard (depending on if they already have one or the other). I should also note here that a few people have also had this problem happen when using specifically the OCZ 520w and the Neo2.

I have already ordered a new PSU - Fortron Blue Storm 500w but likely will have to RMA my motherboard to get a working one now

Same thing here. I have a Neo2 Platinum with an Antec Tru Power 380W. It worked fine for a day. The next morning I removed the HSF to add some thermal paste, then it would not post. I tried everything, but no posting. It also would start as soon as I plugged it in. This started after it didn't post for the first time. I RMA'd both the CPU and MB, but now I'm thinking I need to buy a new PSU. What a bunch of crap. Have you found any other info on this?

I haven't seen anywhere that someone has found a concrete *cause* or fix When the Antec's had a problem with the Abit AV8 they found the solution and implemented it on all new ones in assembly, but as far as I know this hasn't been done with this problem.

As you see in one of my links its suggested that the startup timings are off, possibly causing some unoticeable part on the motherboard to quit working. No one I know of has gotten their board working again after this, even with different, brand new PSU's up to the task - so obviously something stops working on the board itself.

Does anyone you know of have a working Antec/Neo2 Platinum combo? I'd like to maybe start a poll on what PSU's people are using on this MB, and who is having problems. I've RMA'd both my MB and CPU, so I really don't want to get them back and have them screwed up again. I also really don't want to have to buy another PSU when I have a brand new Antec one sitting here.

That would be a good poll, because as usual reading forums like these you only hear about people that HAVE had a problem with items - there are probably quite a few out there using Antec's and Neo's in harmony, but the problems I have had aren't isolated. I also think the problem lies more on MSI's side than Antec's to be truthful, and it may come down to a certain batch of Neo's that will always break with Antecs.

I do believe, for whatever reason, the Antec Neopower hasn't had these problems. Could just be that not many people own this combo.

I started a poll in General Hardware, as that seems to get the most traffic.

Shit, I have the same problem with my ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe and my Enermax Noisetaker after I transport it to a LAN or back home. Takes awhile and a few flipping of switches to make the f***ing $1400 system even get to POST. Once it does, though, it's smooth sailing. I'm RMA'ing my whole rig this week to see if new parts will fix this problem.

I've done everything you guys have.

Just thought I'd check in. I've got an Antec TrueBlue 480W power supply with a NEO2. It's running well and I haven't had any problems, even with the CPU at 17% overclock. I've had this setup running for three months now.

Thanks for adding your working systems guys I still have no clue what exactly is causing this problem for me and others - could be a batch(es) of Neo's or certain batch(es) of Antecs, or some other common element that we all have but haven't seen.

Edit: I just now realized who you are on the other boards. I'm a little slow sometimes.

Seems most people don't have any problems with their Antec PSU's and the Neo2. But there are also several posts just like this one. I'm so confused.

I just got my true550w eps12v Antec and it worked fine with win 2000 installed, but i jsut got xp in and now it won't work, but i don't think it's the power supply. It's rated among the highest around.

Give us more info about your problem. Did it ever post after installing XP. Did it just crash while loading?
