LOVE this case. was actually thinking of selling my Enermax Black Alum windowed (blah, blah, blah) case and getting another one of these. The 120mm fans are quiet, the hard drive mounts are great. The PS isn't bad for a lower-mid level system. Makes a great replacement for the dead PSs in other people's systems.

If I had the extra $50 to wait for in Rebates or if BB had honored my $20 coupon today, I might go back and get another one of these.

I love both the cases, I bought my wife the B one (linked w/o PS) from Bestbuy for this exact same deal.

They are both pretty quiet, and for a mid-ranged gaming PC the PSU handles it pretty well.

Did they give any indication of how long? I think someone mentioned that this case is being discontinued, so did they say whether they will be getting a new shipment and if it would be in time for the rebate?

This is what my email said

"The item listed below is not yet available to be shipped. We expect to ship it from our distribution center on 09/03/2005."

I just got back from the BB in Muskegon, MI and their computer showed one in stock at the distribution center. Paid for it and got the free delivery. Shipping info slip says it will be delivered by 9/8/05. Total with tax was $95.39. No shipping so cost is 45.39 AR.

I've run the Antec 350 psu in many comps and it always performs great. We're getting spoiled by all the mega psu's out now and forget what a quality psu will do.

Thanks for the post, I needed one of these for a build.

Cons: Finish isn't as nice looking. Less powerful power supply (by 30W).

Not only is the power supply "fewer wattage" but the Sonata has a TruePower while the BQE has a SmartPower. Chalk up another "pro" for the Sonata.

I'd get one of these BQEs if it were in stock.

Great buy! If I needed a case right now, I'd be all over this one...

Amheck,
Most DVD drives will work vertically (usually says so in the spec sheet), but some only on one side or the other. Look for the little lips on the disk tray. If only one side has lips (like my Plextor 4220 SCSI) then that side has to be down - if both sides have lips (like my Plextor 712) then it'll work either way. Sometimes the catches have to be popped out manually and others have them permanently molded in place.

I just scored this awesome case at the BB in Springfield, VA. It was the only store in the area that had it in stock. I almost went for the slk-2650, but the reviews for this was MUUUCH better. I was using the Sonata for the past few months, but was not at all impressed with the noise reduction or the cooling abilities. The Sonata does look cool though. I just got done transferring everything over, and even with the just applied AS5 (not cured), my temperatutres have dropped 2 degrees....AND this thing is noticeably quieter than the Sonata. I think it actually dampens the noise better!

Wow, that is good to know! I have a couple of Sonata's here and am very impressed with how quiet they are, now interested in trying this case for my next build.

After Sonota cooling problems, I'm really hesitant about buying a "quiet" case. Especially from Antec. Antec screwed up and left many people holding a bag full of problems.

I have read comments where other people have mentioned cooling problems with the Sonata, but I have not experienced that. I don't OC either though so I'm not pushing the envelope.

One system includes an AMD-64 with Zalman HSF, the only other fan is the stock rear mount. Running 35C on CPU.

OK, I just picked up this case from BB, (they had 4 left after mine). I read the reviews posted here, and after my inspection of the unit, I wonder if I got the right case ! It must be the fact that I am old school on quality. When I took the case out of the box, I was impressed, closer inspection revealed the following, and keep in mind this is just IMHO, the power supply was sagging, it seems the thickness of the medal of the case is so thin that the weight of the power supply causes the rear panal to bend inward. The plastic front door does have an amount of flex in it, the side panel (removable) likewise has a lot of flex to it. Overall, I was not impressed, and today I am returning it. If I needed a power supply, I probably would have kept the case, because after rebate price for just the power supply seems th justify the cost. At any rate, this is just my opinion, the other cases that I presently compare it to are the Current HP and Compaq Systems, an older Compaq 5400 series case, the Dell system cases, and even an older (3 year ??) eMachine case. I do not want to give the impression that this message had the purpose of thread crapping, because it wasn't, instead it was simply another review of the product. It's a great price, for a great NAME Brand product, unfortunately the quality just isn't there.

some reports are saying that antec beefed up the NEW power supplies in response to complaints from consumers?

but people also complain about how heavy steel cases are as well

i had an slk1650b before. and granted that is their lowest end case, but that one was plain horrible. it was so cheaply made that my hard drive seeking would cause the side panels to rattle. i suppose it just means antec , isnt necessarily faultless.

they do also have the slk2650 bqe for $39.99 ($30 rebate) and i've had that and it is a very well made case.
