Antec SLK 3000B and plastic duct

One of the new things of this case is the plastic duct. Does it really help cooling by moving cold air in the cpu and the vga card, or it blocks the hot air that goes to the rear 120mm fan? I have an Athlon 2100+ and a Zalman 7000B ALcu, and i am not sure that this plastic duct can increase cooling efficiency

Works great with my AMD 64 3000 winchester and the Zalman 7000Cu.

If it lines up properly with your CPU and your CPU fan is blowing down into the HS, then it could make a several degree diff in your temps. If it doesn't line up well, you could get a flexible duct kit like they sell at SVC.com, computergate.com, et al. and fasten it right to the top of your cpu fan. Adding a slow fan at the outside end of the duct could drop it even farther.

So which do you think would be the best position/destination between the duct and my Zalman 7000B? Can it also be used to move air to the vga also?

My SLK3000B duct only covers half of my Thermalright SLK900A + 92mm Panaflo L1A and its much cooler with the side panel on than it is off.

If i have the Side Panel on + the duct... my temps are lower

If I have the entire side panel off and can look at all my fans spinning around

The dust does not have to be directly on top of the CPU to be effective. 1/4 coverage is sufficient. Extend the length of the duct to within 1/3 to 1/2" away from the CPU cooling fan.

Just bought it. I am satisfied with cooling efficiency and low noise. Butthis case has a MAJOR DRAWBACK. It is very narrow. My ASUS DVD-ROM and the mobile rack for the hdd are touching the capacitots of the motherboard (ASUS A7V133-C). I have seen many cheaper crappy cases that don't have this problem

I had no problem with my ABIT NF7-S Rev 2.0 and that was pretty large for an ATX board when it came out.

Move the drive to another bay. I have an NEC3520 DVD burner. Plenty of room between the burner and my Abit AX8 motherboard.
