antec slk 3000b or p160?

Hello,

im trying to decide on a case and I have pretty much narrowed it down to the p160 or slk 3000b.

i can get the p160 for a good price, $80 AR
i can get the slk 3000b for $50 shipped.

What would you get and why?

i like my p160. its quiet, convenient for putting parts in. i like the temp sensor, its very high quality, and it looks nice.

But it seemes like spcr really likes the 3000b. Do you still think the p160 is worth the exra 30 even though it got worse ratings?

i dont know, all i know is the p160 is really nice, and it has very good airflow.

spcr mentioned that the p160 kinda let alot HDD noise out the 3 front vents, and you can hear a continues throbbing hum.

do you hear these sounds?

I thought the Antec P160 is ugly so I would definitely go with the 3000B.

I like my P160 a lot. I have two Raptors in it and it's quiet enough for me to keep it a foot away from my ear.

If you're an SPCR reader, I'm guessing you want quiet above all else, then by all means, of course buy the 3000B. If you're not a silence enthusiast, then the decision gets a bit tougher.

The P160 has other features such as being an all aluminum case or whatever, that aren't as attractive to silence enthusiasts.

Im not so much of a silencer, its just that everyone knows that spcr does some of the best case and PSU reviews.

of course, quiet is always good, but not top priority for me.

SLK300B. Much better case, and a lower price.

Depends what you're using it for. If low noise isn't a high priority, we'll factor that out of the equation and go from there.

Styling aside, the P160 has better airflow than the 3000B which will let you cool the hottest running setups with less hassle. It also has that neat I/O panel on the top/front of the case. Lots of room and easy to work on is a nice plus too. Aluminum construction is somewhat flimsy for hard use. Removable mobo tray is a nice idea but rather poorly implemented in the P160.

SLK300B has better construction and is physically smaller than the P160. It has a built-in fan filter in the front bezel. It has excellent airflow and is designed with a nice balance towards airflow-to-noise. It's cheaper than the P160. IMHO, the 3000B doesn't really have any negative points. Some bitch about the door, but I like doors. YMMV.
