The PSU is only 350W. Is this enough power?
From other threads everyone is saying to get above 400W. True??

my rig to be:
abit w/ xp2500
2 hard drives
cd/dvd burner

future will add 1 SATA drive, TV/video editing card

Sweet case! Excellent price.

Currently running: P4P800 Deluxe, 2.8ghz HT processor, 2 optical drives, 5 hard drives, Radeon 9800 non pro and a couple other cards without problem off this power supply.

God I wish people qould quit worrying/whining about this. 250 Watts would be fine for what you are doing.

Those Shuttle XPC's run off of 200 watts and they have P4 3.2 800FSB, DVD+/- Burner, 300Gig harddrive, Radeon 9800XT, Audigy 2, etc.

This is an outstanding case, The extra 120mm intake slot gives the option of adding a big fan that moves a lot of air. Of note I just received the Usb 2.0 front port upgrade (free) from Antec, e-mail tech support, they are great.

I'm gonna get the new 3700BQE...kind of a cross between the 3700AMB and the Sonata. 350W PSU, 2 120mm fans (or a place for them - one intake, one output), sound dampening features and best of all, it's black! only 79 + shipping at Newegg.

Hmm... I am leaning toward linky instead, sorta looks better to me, and since I have 7 IDE devices that I plan to put in one case, a 420w PSU sounds good.

If only they had free shipping...

Has anyone tried a Scorpio 868 from RaidMax before? Seems to be new, only 3 reviews at newegg.

I looked at the 3700BQE, and they don't have any pics of the inside yet... I hate that!

Great case and good price.

I have checked out raidmax cases at Frys before and they seem flimsy/weak compared to Antec/Chieftec

I don't think 250 is enough. If I have three or four drives in there next year its better to have enough power than not enough. All these forums and articles on anandtech and tomshardware always push the PSU is the most neglected. I just don't feel like buying another psu in 1 year and look at the old one sitting on the shelf never to be used.

if you actually read those articles, they tell you that higher wattages is not the answer. they tell you to be very careful about the amperages of the important rails: 5V and 12V. look at how many amps they deliver here and that will tell you the strength of a PSU. forget watts, that is less important than amps on those important volt lines.

True yodayoda most articles push the 5V and 12V are most important, but they also talk quality powersupply like enermax, fortron or most of the antec's. Then when you look at everyone's advice & rigs they are pushing 350W+, most in the 400W+ range.

I like these two enermax -- good prices w/ psu:

Silver MidTower Powerup 350W for $78

Silver Xpoint MidTower Enermax 300W for $58

This is a very nice case. I picked it up for $67 last week.
Be careful with the front bezel of the case. The plastic bottom tabs are fragile.
It also has two power supply fans with the one blowing over the CPU heat sink.
The 3 1/2 inch drive mount has rubber stops so you don't get the pinched mounting cage problem where you get one drive in and the others don't fit without loosening the existing drive's screws.

There is a big difference between a True Power supply and a regular supply.

Many supplies cannot deliver their rated wattage for any time, some even put
on the lable on the side of a 350W PSU Warning: Maximum continous draw, 200W.

The Antecs, specifically the True Power series, can deliver their rated wattage
continously.

A 250W True Power is more than plenty for an AMD Barton 3200+,
with four hard drives raided, one IDE HD, and a 72x CD, with a
GeForce FX 5700 Ultra, SB Audigy2, and NIC.

Thats interesting considering that a 250W True Power does not exist.

http://www.antec-inc.com/pro_powerSupply.html

To the other poster above, the air doesn't blow down from the power supply over the cpu. It sucks air into the PS, then the 80mm in rear exhausts it.

And yes, this case rocks. Though Newegg and their one day "sales" don't rock as much. Especially, when it was cheaper just a couple days ago.

As for the door, it takes about ten seconds to remove and file in the circular file.

Well anyways, anyone receive theirs from newegg from the last deal at $65 and can give a smal review on how they turned out, initial build, quality, noise? thanks!

I'm real close to ordering one of these to replace my InWin A500 (250w)!

I just started tinkering with mine today and it is awesome. I really like how easy it is to work with and how sturdy it feels. This is my 3rd Antec case and I'd say that I like this most of all. (compared to a SLK2600 and a 1060 plus view)
