Antec SX830 + Epox 8K7A = IDE cable too short for slave CD-RW!

I have 2 Hard drives + a CD-ROM + a CD-RW.
I have hooked up the 2 Hd's master and slave on the primary IDE channel using the ATA 100 cable, and I'd like to hook up the CD-ROM and CD-RW the same way using the regular IDE cable. The problem is that the middle connector on the cable doesn't quite reach the lowest 5.25 bay. I tried buying a longer cable, but the middle connector was positioned the same way. What can I do?

all you can do is get a longer IDE cable, thats what i have to do

Kinda sucks having to go mailorder from Canada for an IDE cable
I guess I'll just have to keep looking around.. but so far all I've seen longer cables, but with the middle connector in the same place as the regular 24" ones.

I have the same case and board. I had to get the Belkin 24" ATA100 IDE ribbon cable (Belkin Part Number: F2N1107-24inch) found here:

same problem here, I settled for a 24" ATA33 cable I had around....was only 5400RPM drive, so it's okay.

thankfully the other 18" ATA100 could barely reach my CDRW and 7200RPM drive.

get 24" or 36" cables.

36" cables will lower your speeds, but you can only see that in benchmarks. so for cd-RW it's fine.

i recommend getting the 36" ata66 cables if you go 36".

Can someone please explain what ATA/100, ATA/66, and ATA/33 mean? I recently ordered an Epox 8k7a, and this is my first time putting together a computer. How many ribbon cables can be attached to your motherboard? Does it matter how I connect my CDROM drives, floppy drives, and hard drives? Or do I just need to make sure all of them are connected?
