That psu will push the system you're planning on building, even though it's an Antec. It's made for Antec by Seasonic, though not to Seasonic specifications, but to Antec's specs, so it isn't going to have either the reliability or the output capability of a 650 watt Seasonic. I'd seriously consider this Corsair: link, if I were you; it has roughly the same amount of output capability, but is built a bit better. As you can see, newegg sells it for the same amount as that Antec: newegg link.

I find it funny when people recomend the Corsair over the Antec Tri or Neo. All 3 are basied off the S12 energy Pluss series from Seasonic. There are only slight veriation between all 3 units. All 3 are very good quality PSUs.

Now a system running quad core and an 8800GTS generally needs a PSU with about 28A or better on the +12v rails whitch these units are more then able to supply.

In case anyone needs it here is a link to my PSU Reference List. All the PSu in this list are top quality units. All the important specs, prices, and reviews can be found there. I try to update this about once a month.

I have the TruePower Trio 650, so far it's been quiet, stable and the lack of effective limits on the 12v "rails" is nice (effectively a 650w, 52 amp 12v rail PSU). For under $100 it's a lot of PSU for the money.

I did notice that ZZF has a great deal going on the Corsair 520w HX unit for $85 shipped after rebate if you'd rather go that route: (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/...sp?ProductCode=373100) - the flat/modular cable design of the Corsair is nice. Seemed like the SPC review of the Corsair was quieter than the Antec, and I noted in JonnyGuru's writeup there was a problem with the Antec 650 watt unit self-destructing when it tried pushing the full rated 12v load... Honestly, I don't see you getting anywhere near this... but it's worth noting I suppose.

For the same money, I'd go with the Corsair 520 watt unit versus the Antec TruePower Trio 650 (which I own). The Antec is a perfectly capable PSU but the Corsair is quieter, adds modular cables and has more than enough amperage available on the 12v rails (40) for your system even with significant component additions. Both are built by Seasonic but from the description in JonnyGuru's review the Corsair is based on the same platform as the M12/S12 units while the Antec is different and cheaper to produce Seasonic design. If you look closely at the M12/S12 review at SPC and compare the internal component layouts of the Antec/Corsair you can see what he's talking about (in particular the location of the transformer and cap between the two vertical heatsinks).

Except the Antec failed the hot box test unlike the Corsair...

Add to that that the cables aren't sleeved nor modular.

I would take the corsair over the antec anyday

The Neo isn't the same build as the TruePower Trio or Earthwatts, different PSU entirely.... Why would you buy a 500 watt Antec Neo for $85 when you can get the Corsair HX 520 watt unit for $95 (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/...p?ProductCode=373100)? Looks like price went up $10 since yesterday but it's still a great price and still gets free shipping.

Again, I own an Antec TruePower and don't have a specific problem with the brand or the PSU itself - however the 520 watt Corsair for $85 shipped free at ZipZoomFly is still the way to go. It's a better PSU in every way than the Antec Neo, TruePower or Earthwatts units.
