I really liked the guy, but when he started parsing his words saying "I did not send her that picture" I knew that this was going to end the way it has. Seems being a ego maniac with a dark side is the requirement for politicians these days.

Weiner! your're a Putz! (pun intended).

lol, I knew he wasn't "hacked".

You gotta be pretty naive to believe that bullshit line coming from a politician.

And he only came clean when more evidence that couldn't be disputed surfaced.

All politicians are such lying scum. Can't even imagine how his wife feels, what a piece of crap.

Weiner is a habitual liar and an ass.... what a surprise.

I'm sure he's a lot more honest than Barrack Husssein Obama.

Yeah, I've never done anything as wrong as betraying the trust of the person that you're supposed to be the closest to in life. If a guy can betray his wife like that how easily could he betray his constituents or the american people?

Sorry, but I care, I wouldn't associate myself with a guy who betrays people like that and I certainty wouldn't want him or her representing me in congress. It shows a complete lack of moral character.

He said he is going back to working "hard" and continue working "hard".

I think that might be a democtratic code word.

But the Canuck that just had his Liberal Party get slam dunked by Harper and lives vicariously in U.S. politics called it a fail. Doesn't that matter?
LOL Nope. Sandorski can craft a beautiful argument should he so choose, but typing "fail" is the equivalent of voting "Present".

lol, he lied. Not than I'm surprised. What a tool bag.

You're right. He lied. It's now known fact, rather than speculation. I was suprised.

Who knows? Maybe you're surprised that I posted to acknowledge it. ()

You are right, we Democrats honestly don't care if our politicians do stupid stuff in their personal life, as long as they don't tell us how to live ours. That's not what we elect them for. You Republicans elect politicians to preach and moralize from their office, we don't. There is nothing inconsistent to us with someone being a good politician and a bad family guy, because we can differentiate between work and personal life. You can't.

I hold all morally bankrupt individuals with equal contempt, whether in their work or personal life, it doesn't matter. And thanks to the relativist thinking of people like you, a good majority of the people we've elected to office across the country are highly flawed individuals many of us would soon replace if we had the chance.

As Matt observed above, anyone who would betray their family would also likely sell out their constituents or their country. It's really not hard to understand, unless you are a relativist liberal.

Good for you. It's surprisingly cheap to admit you were wrong on the Internet - luckily for me in another thread.

Shit can him.

Whether you believe what he did was *wrong* or not is not even the issue. The opposing party will use it as a distraction, and probably effectively so.

We don't need distractions...least of all now.

Who do you think was the last politician to actually get away with something like this? Kennedy? Serious question...

I just wonder what makes them think they can get away with it. It's not like they can say "Well, look at everyone else who gets away with it" :hmm:

Fucking morons.

I did, and I do, like Rep. Weiner's politics, fighting for good causes.

I now think he's an idiot in the area of how he behaved here.

Like many powerful men, his sexual behavior is excessive - in this case, it appears, online flirtatious relationships.

It was not only a problem for his marriage, but as a progressive leader, he had a responsibility to other progressives as well not to embarrass the faction; he did.

So far, that's not that large of an issue, if he tells the truth when caught for the photo.

But he didn't do that. He tried to say little and see if it went away; it didn't and then he began to simply lie.

We could criticize the poor quality of his lies, but it misses the more important point that they were lies at all.

Nancy Pelosi has called for an investigation; I don't need to read the thread to know it's likely not one right-wing poster has said something good about her doing that.

There are standards against lying this way for leaders. Balancing the issues, I'm ok with him continuing in office while his constituents vote for him. But I think he should not be the visible representative for his issues he has been. While it can be argued that 'the issues should not pay the price for his bad behavior', there's a price to pay for lying. That's not who you really want representing your faction, generally IMO.

Liberals have been let down by several of the politicians who support progressive positions, by their breaking trust on sexual behavior - Eliot Spitzer, John Edwards, the not too liberal but still a Democrat Bill Clinton, and now Rep. Weiner to name some. This post doesn't need any 'but Republicans' list - it's not about that, it's about Rep. Weiner.

His choice to lie - albeit probably attempting to avoid problems with his marriage, the usual situation - should be criticized by fellow politicians.

We need to have some stigma liars pay to deter lying by others.

I don't think someone in his situation necessarily 'would lie about anything' - the norm seems to be that sexual bad behavior gets lies while other issues don't.

But it's still an issue, that he has betrayed the trust of pretty much everyone. It's shameful for him to do that.

One more harm from his bad behavior is to give Breitbart a legitimate win, which will give him a larger platform and more credibility for his next slander.
