Seems like Weiner discussion is dying down. And he's only been in ''rehab" for a couple days.

Story is running out of steam fast.

seriously, much of your posts you sound like you're a progressive strategist or something.

OF COURSE THE STORY DIES DOWN AFTER THERE ARE NO NEW DEVELOPMENTS. It must be obvious day at Camp Stupid

His ability to legislate will still be forever tarnished. He will not win re-election, and I do strongly suspect he will resign sooner rather than later.

Senseamp can't help it; his overwhelming love of Weiner overrides rational thought.

Died down? The Fat lady didn't sing yet did she? Look Mr Weiner obviously works out, and all that crap he takes to look like that and get ripped does goes to his head, and keeps him pretty sexily charged. Trust me those drinks can get you on a high sometimes. Well, his junk mail probably got to him in more matters than one, and he was enticed by it all. All thos sexy single girls that advertise their wares...He is only human, stupid, but human. Sex can leave you blind and totally dumb, even if you were Einstein. Should he resign? Hello no. We need his vote. It doesn't need to be crisp perfect, and divinely blessed, just added to meet a quorum. Do she think all those other people in the legislature are angels? Heck no, they just haven't been caught or make public disgraces yet.

OK, who's second account is this? Obviously some oversexed person as "Sex can leave you blind and totally dumb, even if you were Einstein."

LOL

I think the story has largely run its course, unless something comes (no pun intended) from the underage girl. There are pictures that came out today (again, no pun intended) showing Wiener cross-dressed during his college days, and no doubt there are other pictures and other allegations still to drop. But unless there's something criminal, I doubt this story has legs for much longer. He showed monumentally bad judgment, but at some point additional monumentally bad judgment of the same type doesn't really have much effect. I predict that his wife stands by him, he emerges from his mini-rehab declaring his "addiction" cured, and progressives rally around him again. At this point even his staunchest supporters admit the guy is slime, but Congress' approval rating is so low that a scandal of this magnitude neither shocks nor changes anyone's mind about Congress or the parties; it's just a funny story that confirms most people's opinion of Congresscritters in general.

He sent the pictures of his weiner.
He did? :\ The TV news stories only showed a torso shot of his upper body. They didn't mention exposed genitalia. Is this really what happened. I was wondering why they were going after him so intensely. If he was sending shots of his balls and dick I can see where they would go after him. I guess on TV news they don't want to even suggest that by innuendo. Man, seems fucked up.

Now Gloria Allred is involved:

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/15/us-usa-politics-weiner-pornstar-idUSTRE75E3N820110615

Weiner may be a douche, but I hate Allred 1000x more.

LOL! I have wardrobe demands...

"'I have wardrobe demands too. I need to highlight my package,'" Weiner wrote Lee, in an e-mail read aloud at the news conference by Lee's attorney, Gloria Allred.

Oh yeah, there are multiple photos. With a hard-on too. He's the youngest member of Congress. From a maturity perspective that is.

So, will his wife leave him or dump him? I've got to believe she knew what she was getting into from the beginning. Maybe the question is, will he put a damper on her career if she stays?

Initially I didn't expect him to resign, but with all the pressure (Schumer has joined etc) I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

But the Dems will have to provide him some type of cushy job etc. IMO the choice between being a Congressman under pressure and simply unemployed is quite easy.

isn't she one of sec clinton's aides? no doubt clinton feels sorry for her so i'd wager she could do whatever she wants.
Yeah, she works for Clinton. I've got to believe that they can commiserate with each other having husband's that think more or less alike. But it's rumored that Hillary is vying for the position of the head of the World Bank. Will Mrs. Weiner be brought along or will Mrs. Weiner become too much baggage to carry?

I don't know the answers to these possible scenario's. Just thinking out loud.

I hadn't heard about Schumer. That's a big thing. Schumer is widely considered to be Weiner's mentor. Those two are very close. Schumer throwing him under the bus is pretty huge.

Weiner is entitled to his pension and the rest of the perks of being a former member of Congress. I'm not disagreeing that he won't get a 'special' job, just that it's not truly necessary. He'd have resurfaced as a lobbyist at a later date would have been my guess. Far lower profile position and much bigger money.

I've considered that but think he may be quite limited as a lobbyist.

I hear Weiner has very few friends in Congress, even among Democrats. He's an asshat to everyone, he's selfish, he's consistantly failed to pay his party dues (I believe these "dues" are required contributions to the Dem's general campaign war chest.) It hasn't gone unnoticed by the other Dems, not in the least. You see Weiner is in a highly Dem district and has virtually no challenge yet still fails to help out Dems in more contested districts with any fundrasing/donations. He's a self-absorbed, selfish prick. That they would grant him special access or favors strikes me as questionable as best.

I believe you're right. When you put the whole package together, he's really become a pariah. Which is probably why he's so intent on keeping his job. He knows his only hope rests with the voters of his district. Committing anything short of murder would pretty much guarantee his re-election.

If he doesn't resign, they'll most likely get rid of him via redistricting.

NYS is losing a seat, isn't it

though i assume NY would be trying to get rid of a republican seat? if they can draw the district right they could split weiner into a more competitive district by breaking the solidly democratic district into multiple districts that eat a republican district or...?

I don't remember what channel it was on, but Obama said he would have resigned by now if he was in Weiner's position.

Also, someone mentioned his wife and Hillary Clinton. My understanding is she is Clintons deputy Chief of Staff. I wonder if she gave Mrs. Weiner any advice in regards to "standing by her man" or not.

Who controls the redistricting process? I thought I'd read that the party that controls Congress has that 'burden'.

I believe it's tied into the Census too so the time is nigh.

Don't know, just askin'.
