Yeah, and women should be able to play on the private golf course in Georgia...remember Augusta????? Hell NO, they shouldn't. Its private and I don't feel stomped on because of it. I could care less. I am woman and I believe that I don't need to be there if it is "male only."

Whats the difference between Augusta and BSA? Private is private.

I know I'm stepping on toes when I say this but child molesters are everywhere. They only get major attention when it happens in the BSA because it hardly ever does. I guess the Catholic church is a major root of even then? Hell, child molesters are freakin' teachers in the public school system. Its way more common for a child molester to the in the public school system.

San Francisco is the gay capital and BSA has a higher growth percentage there over any where else.

Our Troop does not receive Gov. Funding. Once again, WHERE IS THE GOV FUNDING? STOP SAYING IT IF YOU CAN'T TELL ME ABOUT IT...A discount at a park is not gov funding. They discount for many many organizations that are private.

I mean, I want to be part of MAKE A WISH, but I'm not dying...is that discrimination? Why can't I have my wish come true too?

yes a discount is gov funding. A orginization that discrimanates SHOULD RECIEVE ZERO FUNDING>

ok. the make a wish just proves how much of a ***** retard you are. but hell you might contact them since you seem brain dead.

FiddleDD - Long time no see. Missed you babe!!!!!! Glad to see you here!!! Look forward to catching up with you.

My stepson had a great time at the Jamboree in Carolina County VA. He had a memorable time and it will stay with him forever. Although, he lost his memory card for his camera. I was so upset....$5500 later and 20 pics. That blew chunks

As fett's says, its a private organization, the BSA is a great organization.

Hey Fetts!!! How in the heck are you girl? You are getting quite heated up on this one lol...

Waggster...luckily my children are all past that age now, but when you have children you will understand that you will want to know their leaders and coaches before sending them somewhere overnight

Its no different than the crap you are saying about BSA. You are obviously the braindead individual in this thread.

No response to Augusta, huh? Whats the difference, big boy?

MY TROOP DOES NOT GET DISCOUNTS AT OUR PARKS. WE PAY THE SAME FEE AS EVERYONE ELSE. In fact, we bought Raven Knob, acre by acre and we buy a little more each year. That is not gov. funding, it is us funding ourselves.

Secondly, if some troops do get a discount that is the problem WITH YOUR LOCAL GOV., not the BSA. Stop fussing at BSA for your local gov's problem. DUH.

I agree waggy, that is why the BSA does extensive background checks in hopes that it does catch what it can. They MUST go through the Child Protective Training ever 2 or 3 years. Our Troop does this yearly AND it is 2 Deep Leadership which means NO BOY should EVER be left ALONE with just 1 leader unless it is his Father or Mother of course.

BSA has done a great job to stop child molestation.

wow you just don't get it.

so ***** what your troop does? great! wish they all did. if they did NOBODY would have a right to complain. a private orginization has a right to accept who they have in. Right now the BSA DOES accept govt funding (no matter how many times you say it. geting a reduced cost on camp grounds is govt funding)..

And people are Sueing to stop the BSA from getting discounts and other funding (wich i am all for).

you are worthless. you have one thought and can't see other sides. no point in responding since nothing is going to open the one track mind you seem to have.

its people like you that cause many to hate religion and anything dealing with religion. wich is sad.

Waggy, that is stupid...BSA does not stop someone from believing in God. Only the man or woman themselves has that power.

My troop does not get discounts on parks. I have said that over and over. If YOUR LOCAL GOV DOES THAT IT IS YOUR LOCAL GOV'S PROBLEM NOT BSA.

If you mortgage company gave you a discount each month on your payment would you take it? Hell yeah you would. If the IRS said Hey Waggy we are going to discount your taxes this year you would be like ROCK ON!!!! Its their fault not the receiver. How many people would actually turn that down?

I'm one sided? No, I see what you are saying, but BSA does not have to say "OH NO YOU ARE THE GOV...WE CAN'T GET A DISCOUNT FROM YOU BECAUSE IT WOULD BE WRONG."

OH MY GOSH, I can't believe we are even discussing this....if they discount it, anyone would take it. DUH!

I believe its called a group discount, but it isn't a government discount...uh duh...the more they can rent the more money they make, rental properties is a business.

Thank goodness there are a lot of lawyers out there that will take on these cases pro bono to fight the frivalous lawsuits against the scouts.

blah blah blah for you the boyscouts are great. I really don't give a damn. They would still discriminate against me so nothing else really matters.

frivalous? hahah

http://atheism.about.com/b/a/258368.htm

For some time now, the Sea Scouts in Berkeley, California, have been fighting the fact that the city has stopped giving them special privileges. According to the city, they can't have free use of a public marina because they are part of the discriminatory Boy Scouts of America. The Sea Scouts contend that their discriminatory and bigoted policies shouldn't matter.
Why shouldn't they matter? There's no good argument for that. Some claim that the discrimination against gays and atheists is a positive public good, but that simply reveals the moral depravity of the speaker. Some claim that discrimination should be irrelevant and that being a non-profit group is the only relevant factor, but that makes no sense. Why should public government support an organization that discriminates against some of the public?

The Sea Scouts have lost at most levels of the judiciary. Now, the Supreme Court has refused to hear their case, which means that their loss at the California Supreme Court ? a unanimous ruling, by the way ? stands.

This is not the first time the Supreme Court has refused an appeal in such a case. Two years ago, they also refused to hear an appeal from Boy Scouts in Connecticut who objected to being dropped form the list of charities which receive donations directly from state employees' payroll. There, too, government officials argued that they have a right and an obligation to not give the same benefits and privileges to groups that discriminate against some citizens

considering even teh USPC refuses to hear the case says a LOT. pity its just for that area. should be all over the US. but that is changing.

"being dropped form the list of charities which receive donations directly from state employees' payroll."

Why couldn't they be listed? It is an employees choice if they chose to allocate their money to that respective organization.

Why can't the BSA use a public marina? Do they also charge the regular public? If so, then I agree. If they don't charge others, but charge the BSA then it is wrong.
