Lol, and Jewish. Religion = war. But who wants to believe nowadays, I mean look at the tribes in Africa, they think they have some weird gods in existence, yeah right, we don't have african americans in USA believing teh same thing, because they are exposed to technologicaly advancement, but not every1 in Africa is.

Am I wrong?

Spirtuality and technology can be totally exclusive from eachother.

i am a computer engineering major and very into technology. i am a geek for lack of a better word, yet i am religious (not a fanatic fundie mind you), so where do i fit in? i believe in God, but ive been exposed to plenty of new technology and a lot of physics, both classical and modern, which many people use as an excuse to disprove God.

I know, it'll just be more disproved as tech enhances, therefore coming down to something as how we view Greek myhtology today, which was a serious belief back then.

See people like that should be banned. Why isn't this thread moderated by now? I noticed 1 thing, people don't mind mocking Catholics, but if I would've posted a thread against Muslims, I would've been long gone from these forums.

I don't see what you are saying. Should I be banned? Because I made a comment about how I see Dain is trying to be funny, yet I think he can fvck off in terms of what his message is?

People will always have a beef with something. You will always be offending some one or some group.
When something like this happens, it just makes more press for the show and will encouage more people to watch out of sheer curiosity.

I'm a Catholic as well and I completely agree...

they refer to her as the Virgin Mary because she was a virgin when Jesus, the son of God was conceived.

religion doesn't equal war. war is what people that have nothing better to do do. it's been true across pretty much every culture and for all of recorded history.

Matthew 12:47 and parallels tells us that Mary and Jesus's brothers tried to speak with him during his preaching ministry

We know from Acts 1:14 that Mary was present with the disciples at the first Pentecost, and that Jesus's brothers had joined them

again, i have to commend you for outwitting 2 billion of the christians in the world. you single-handedly contradicted the 2000 years of interpretation by scholars, historians, and theologians alike with several quotes and your summary of them. what revelations will you reveal next? stay tuned!

btw, i didn't like this episode either. i started to watch less and less of south park, but that is just me. i will probably watch even less of it. will i try to stop you guys from watching it? nah. you will grow up on your own time..

Well, the problem is, is that some christians believe the King James bible word for word is straight out of the mouth of god himself. 'cept it isn't, and the earliest copies of the bible were first commited to paper nearly 100 years after christ died. So no living members of the apostate actually had any hand in writing the bible. So much confusion, and twisting of words to suit people's purposes...

The last book of the Bible as we know it was written around 300 years after his death, but it wasn't 100 years after his death that the first began writing. Some books of the new testament were written relatively soon after his death.

However, I'm of the belief that if God is powerful enough to create everything, he's probably smart enough to make sure the gospel stays in tact.
But perhaps not powerful enough to prevent the Devil from twisting his words? :Q

I don't care for the Catholic church at all. It's all about putting on a big, fancy show and less and less about worshiping God and reading the bible.

I'd say Leper Messiah has it about right. Praying to the Mary is basically idolatry. Another thing, why call her Virgin Mary? She's not a virgin.

actually, yes she is. emmaculate (sp?) conception.

For the birth of Jesus, correct. But, what about her other children?

what other children?

The bible indicates Mary only had one son.

Jesus had brothers.

And sisters apparently.... Link for Reference

The existence of siblings of Jesus is sometimes explained by the belief that Joseph was a widower with children from a previous marriage. If you google "virgin mary joseph widower children previous marriage" you'll find many hits for this.

Catholics condemn South Park episode about Virgin Mary

Editors: Note nature of content in second paragraph
NEW YORK (AP) The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights is condemning an episode of "South Park" that it says "defiled" the Virgin Mary.
The cartoon, which runs on Comedy Central, features an episode this week titled "Bloody Mary," in which a South Park character claims to have been sprayed by blood from a body orifice of a Virgin Mary statue. When Pope Benedict investigates, he declares that she's just having her period.
The Catholic League is calling on the board chairman of Viacom, which owns Comedy Central, to apologize to Catholics and stop the episode from airing the next several nights as scheduled.
The Catholic League notes that Viacom chairman Joseph Califano is a practicing Catholic, and that today is the church's feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary.
i really don't see why you had to share this as it will only lead to more criticizing of your faith.

Little did I know what this thread was going to amount to.

Had I known, I never would of done so.

Ignorance on my part.

PS: I don't really care if folks criticize my faith. I know what I believe in and that won't change. If folks choose not to accept it, it's really their loss. I've been under fire in the past for believing in God. What are you going to do? Other then accepting the fact that not everyone will believe what you do.

The problem you are running into is people are trying to get you to believe what they beleive, not what the bible teaches. If you begin to study the bible on your own, you will indeed find enough reasons to not be Catholic. Don't take my word for it, get a King James bible out and start searching it and your heart.

From what I heard, King James Bible is not a good translation of the bible.

And you really need to know how to intrepret the bible. Many folks don't.

The King James is the standard version that most churches use. The NIV has become very popular as well. What translation do you use?
