Just fixed up virus and internet protection for not only my new build, but the other computers in the family too (used by those not as computer savvy as myself, and so are a lot more virus prone).

I have finished up an update to my automated (unattended) malware (viruses and spyware) removal script, which includes the command line scanner version of some of these antivirus products, if any of you wish to try them out.

Edit: Should I also get the free Spyware Doctor from Frys and run it side by side with Kaspersky? It says with antivirus...can I disable the antivirus part of it and just use the spyware part? I've heard good things about Spyware Doctor, but I have never used it. Does its realtime protection work with Firefox?

I would suggest against running the realtime protection of Spyware Doctor, from what I have heard, it is quite the resource hog. The detection rate and removal abilities are good though. Forum member John is the real expert on it, drop him a PM or install the trial version of it (I assume it has a trial).

Comcast (and some other ISPs) offers it as well to their subscribers and AOL offers free Mcafee Antivirus / firewall to the general public (no AOL subscription required, AFAIK).
