I don't know the specifics, but they overreached bigtime with Empire, there was just too much tedious crap to deal with and it left a lot of people feeling burned. I (hope) this means it will be a more scaled down version a la Napoleon.

Leave in the good stuff and discard the fluff.

Ya. They got too ambitious with Empire and it seems like they ran out of time, releasing a very buggy game with laughable AI. It took them six patches to get it to the current version, which is really where it should have been upon release. And, as seems to be more often the case nowadays, it is the modding community at twcenter.net that have really added the extra oomph to make the game enjoyable IMO.

And yes, that does seem to be what they are doing with Shogun. Scaling it down to make a more compact but solid game. Sort of the opposite of where they were going with Empire. On a separate note, I would sure love for them to do a game set in the 20th century or even the future. And I recall an interview where one of the devs said they were actually pondering the former.

Brink looks decent; Rage looks decent.

Would love if Epic decided to be not PC-hating asses & announce a non-port UT.
Quake 5 would be nice too if they went back to the fast paced style of Q3.

i'm quite sick of HoN. S2 proves to continually be a worthless and incompetent pile of shit. so i'm looking forward to DOTA2.

Yeah. Blizzard doesn't usually release a game each year anyways...

Looking forward to Crysis 2. ME3 should be excellent. Might get DA2 if I can ever get into the first one.

D3 is supposed to be released in 2011. But then SC2 was supposed to be released in 2008. So we'll see about that.

I'm personally most looking forward to Torchlight 2. I hopped on the first one's bandwagon late because of my backlist on steam. But I am absolutely loving it.

The problem with making a new MMO as opposed to more add-ons is you risk splitting the player base and losing many people in the process.
Guild Wars has clearly been reluctant to do that.

I think most of the player base will be moving to GW2. I am a GW player, as are a lot of my friends, and we all plan on picking up GW2 on launch day.
