The Kaspersky has a new FAR deal. It's at the Fry's Bayarea stores and also at Fry's.com for 45.00 with a 45.00 MIR. Here's a link to Fry's com and the rebate form. There is no upgrade requirement for this rebate. the deal is probably good at other Fry's stores in other areas.

I just picked one up yesterday at Fry's BM Renton WA location. it's indeed $45 MIR with NO upgrade requirement, just buy the software for $44.99 pay tax, rebate $45. FREE! I usually don't buy anti-virus softwares, cuz I download them but since Kaspersky is so good and free after MIR, no reason to resist.

My NOD32 subscription expired yseterday and I renewd it then! doh! ho well I have other computers running AVG, so I'll try Kapersky there.

I used to use Norton, now I use Bitdefender on one computer and AVG on the other. The Bitdefender always seems to mess up on the one computer that is why I use AVG on it. but now AVG wants 70 bucks for two years. Think I will try Avast. Used it in past. Maybe I will try Kapersky if I can find it cheap.

AVG wants $70 because you're using an outdated version (version 7.1 ?) of the program. If you download and install the new version (version 7.5) all will be restored in the universe.

Does anyone else have problems installing this on an XP PC? I have installed and un-installed KIS 6.0 about 3 times. Despite updating and patching it, everytime boot processes would terminate or crash, and certain programs (e.g. quickbooks) would not run. This is my worst installation experience in years, and I work in this field.

YA - Same thing happened to me and others have reported the same problem as well. Don't know what our problem is though.
Make sure you have no other AV on your system.

Make sure you have no other AV on your system.

FWIW you can download the latest version (6.0.2.621) from Kaspersky and use your cd key during the installation.

Thank you John, that version appears slightly better, but still some of my start-up programs are getting killed and firefox sometimes crashes upon start-up. This reminds me of the old days with windoze 98 and McAfee...

Ok I now have come to the conclusion that this software is the worst piece of software I have ever encountered - it crashes my otherwise 4 month old -clean and uninfected XP Home PC EVERY TIME. This is rediculus, I do not undersand how these clowns got the rep they have. It may work with a fresh install alright, but if you have any programs running at start-up (even windoze update or Skype) - Foggataboutit
