Antivirus Program?

I use Win2000 and always have problem with viruses. Very often need to reinstall the system. Can someone give me an advice what antivirus program is good and not expensive.

Buy norton 2002 you ca get it for about $30.00. I like the real time scanning and integration with outlook. I never get viruses, and when I do the realtime scan catches it and contains it.

Dont use Norton 2002..it doesnt even detect SirCam..lets it right now infact

Norton is still on of the best but make sure your definitions are updated every 3 days.
This is similar to all other v scanners.

I was once a Norton 2001 user but switched to PC-Cillin 2002. Although I can't find much the difference, I still use its Rescue Disks occassionally, and its SystemWorks frequently. AVG seem also good am still using it in one of my PC.

I have Norton AV 2000 and I am happy with it on my W2K even I still get virus on my Outlook Express everyday NAV took care of it no problem.

EnragedPC, I'm not sure why your posting this, but it's a lie. Norton absolutely blcoks SirCam, and has done so since July of last year. Our writeup on it is here.

Why do people still get infected it's mystery to me. Why do they have to open these "known to be portal for infection" type of files? I never just open anything which which doen't read .jpeg of .gif ; don't care who sends 'em to me.

cuz i installed Norton 2002 on my sisters computer...then I got E-Trust Anti-virus corporate Edition and when I installed it it deteted SirCAM on her computer...Norton never even saw it when we did full scans or anything

Do you have the file that E-trust thought was infected, it sounds like it false positived on it.

I used to have McCrappie but since the subsription is almost up I just switched over to AVG, it's a nice little program, easy to configure and has a couple features I didn't get with McCrappie.

Sircam does add an entry into the autoexec file, but unless the file it's pointing to is there your not infected (it adds the line '"@win \recycled\sirc32.exe"' (@win is the boot volume drive letter)). So, you weren't actually infected (otherwise you would have found it in the recyclced directory and elsewhere), you scanner just wrongly said you were.
