neonicotinoids. Probably the worst chemical you can set loose upon the wild, period. It transfers and concentrates to the amphibs and reptiles that eat those bugs. Then on to your pets and other mammals. You need those bugs and creatures, otherwise your lawn suffers. Your garden suffers. That shit seeps into the water table and you get stillborn babies popping up everywhere. You're basically a mini Dow plant, the amount of devestation you are wreaking on your local ecosystem.

Anyway, this stuff should be banned from the planet. But you know, gotta keep that ugly ass neon green non-native shit lawn going, right?

Don't know why but I haven't seen more than a couple ants in my house for over 2 years now. Used to have to battle them just about every year. If they return, I'll try to locate the nest and bait there. It's the way to go. Probably boric acid at the nest. Do not bait in the house, find out where they are coming from.

Ants another insects who are irritating and annoying ants are so small in size that we could not even look them properly and to get rid of ants i choose pest control is my number one choice.

Don't know why, but no serious incursions from ants in my house for seems like 3-5 years. Here I am on the 2nd floor in my bedroom and around 2 weeks ago I saw an ant crawling across the screen of this laptop. Weird, cause I don't remember seeing an ant on the 2nd floor. But haven't seen an ant since. Used to get invasions in the kitchen but they haven't done more than send a handful of sentries the last few years, no trails at all. Fingers crossed. I have never called an exterminator for anything. I'm hell of self sufficient, again fingers crossed.

We have a lot of ants around our house. I should call an exterminator just so they can spray chemicals around the exterior of our house so I don't have to get near the stuff. We've got vinyl siding and I found that ants like to climb between the vinyl and foam insulation to make nests. This just means that while many are underground, many are also safely above ground...when the outdoor temps start to drop, we see a bunch come indoors and it doesn't take them long to gain in numbers.

About 3 weeks ago, I found a bunch around our pantry and I couldn't track down where they were coming from. I ended up using the Terro Ant Bait Liquid in a few spots and within a day, they swarmed the bait and then mostly disappeared. Soon after, my wife called me downstairs to tell me she'd found their nest. They had made a nest around my wifi AC adapter on the other side of the kitchen and were coming out of the receptacle cover on the wall after the plug was disturbed by our cleaning lady. My wife was grossed out realizing she'd found a bunch of ants and larva....our cleaning lady said, "I like ants... We eat the big ones in my country!" I thought my wife was going to lose it. I ended up unplugging the router and using a screwdriver to remove the receptacle cover...then spraying a bunch of Ortho Home Defense just below the plug into the wall cavity.

We've not seen any ants since....but that's the problem. They pop up from time to time and you never know how close you can be to one of their colonies...even if you poison them with Terro (borax).

I kind of like the borax idea, that's what I use. I don't think it poses a toxicity threat to humans, well, particularly. I have a big container (quart?) that I bought pretty cheap at local hardware store. Rarely need any, it's enough to last 300+ years.

I've never known of an ant colony within this house. AFAIK, they've all been outdoors. I place a bowl of sugary apple simmered in a sock outdoors, the ants come, I bait and they disappear. None for a few years, which is a record. With covid and wildfire smoke, I need a break. Fingers crossed a big earthquake doesn't come now.

Dry borax and sugar mix and also cotton balls soaked in borax sugar solution. I put them cotton balls in little plastic cups and the dry stuff is in a tiny wodden bird house meant for craft painting.

WTF even is this crap?

Freaking "God-bot" is a genius in comparison.

The only time of year I have issues with ants is early spring when it first starts getting warm but there's not much in the way of food around outside for them to eat.

I find the best bet is to first eliminate the food source then find where they are coming in and do a light insecticide spray then seal it up with caulk.

I also suggest staying away from baits as they will certainly bring more ants in, in the short term and long term many ants are immune anyway.

Borax does work but I've found it to cause more ants short term similar to bait-traps.
