I guess you like Dan Wessons? I've heard they are good. I'll have to put one on my to get list.
I don't know anybody with experience so I have no gauge. What didn't they like about it? Anyway, I still need to get a feel of a lot of brands. Need to see how some Sigs feel too.
I need to find a place to try the 92F. I've heard good things and want to feel for myself.
I didn't like the grip feel, the trigger pull, the sights, or the accuracy. I hear they all aren't inaccurate, but the one I shot was.
Got my first 1911 in January of 2012
Remington 1911 R1
I just looked at that R1 online and now I'm drooling. I love the looks of it (which is honestly half the reason I'm eying a shootable 1911). Do you think it was a good value?
Everyone always dissuaded me from buying a 92f and never really explained why so thanks for the info. I like it simply because of the sight picture, but I guess that doesn't help much if the trigger sucks. The bad:
The trigger is crap, the trigger in single action has a mile of creep.
The grip seems a little bulky for a 9mm.
The paint on the sights fade after about 20 years.
The good:
Its reliable. I bought my 92f in January of 1989; I can probably count the number of malfunctions on 1 hand.
My buddies and I used to reload and shoot a lot of 9mm. It was not uncommon for us to shoot 1,500 rounds in a single day. Regardless if it was a reload, factory, round nose, hollow point,,,, that beretta ate everything I fed it. Sometimes we would shoot anywhere from 2,000 - 3,000 rounds a month.
The only brand of ammo I had problems with was CCI blazer. For some reason the rounds turned vertical in the magazine. Don't ask how or why, but it was only CCI that I had issues with.

I have a p238 as my carry gun and absolutely love it. I've been keeping an eye out for a stainless colt...
Picked this one up last week. A Sig Sauer 1911 Scorpion. Shoots great, but is going to break me on ammo costs. My next pistol is going to be a Sig P238 Scorpion, keeping it in the family.

I was seriously considering the P290. Played with one at my local store. Its probably the only true pocket 9mm that has decent build quality.

.45acp isn't too bad in ammo cost.
Beat this: My Colt 1911 from my great uncle, serial number 30k. Made in 1913 and has all original parts and most all of the bluing on it, but the inside of the barrel doesn't look so hot. It cycles nicely but I can't field strip it because the barrel link won't swivel out of the way... it needs to go to a gunsmith I think. I will take better pics of it one of these days.
This thing feels amazing in the hand.
I love this thing too much to shoot. Do you guys have a recommendation for a $500-$600 1911 that shoots decently?
More photos!
says the guy who hates guns.
and you even have it listed in your sig, lol...
