Of course it's a generalization. Nice job, Sherlock. That doesn't mean it isn't true. It's just like people generalizing that recent VW/Audi cars have electrical issues.
Ask any respectable mechanic to speak about Honda problems and the first thing they'll mention is poor automatic transmissions in the V6 powered models
Edited for clarity. The 2003+ 5AT is particularily problematic. It remains to be seen if the 2006+ Civic will suffer this problem now that it has a 5AT. Hopefully the lack of a V6 will save it. (Although I'd love a V6 Civic. )
