IMO: I wouldn't worry about 3GB or 6GB, was the 3GB better off than the 1.5GB 580? No, it was obsolete long before the buffer mattered.

Same thing with GK110, when 6GB vs 3GB matters, none of the cards out today will.

Only true in SINGLE card configs.

Tripple SLI or Quad SLI 580 would certainly not obsolete, especially with an OC... except where vram issues come in, which it does nowadays even at single monitor resolution like 1440 and 1600p.

People who folk out big $$ for multi card configs really should splurge extra for the higher vram models, IMO.

By being able to reduce my temps and gain more performance I was alluding to the fact that I replaced my 3960X with the 4960X in order to accomplish that. lol

It runs cooler and is faster at the same clock speed.

Are you really only running a single 30" monitor?

This is how you set-up proper Quad fire setup (Yes one card is missing, I'm waiting fo my last card to arrive, I already have the block though)

*sic*

I hope you have powerful air conditioning if you plan on running that setup full blast fully overclocked for any length of time.

I also hope your breaker doesn't blow.

400w x 4 cards = 1600w for just the overclocked cards if not CPU bottlenecked and in an efficient game (or heavy GPGPU work).

Don't worry, everything is under control

(I have another PSU for benching session, EVGA SuperNova 1000G2 and it will be on another breaker)

Also, I tried 2 x 290x (CrossFire) on air and stock clocks and it was able to run my 8044x1440 resolution easily so I doubt I'll need to OC my quadfire for a while to play games (especially with Mantle).

Its winter here so no need for AC and when its Summer, yes I have AC.

Nice , I just worry because I see too many unrealistic setups having obvious problems and then are up a creek without a paddle when they come to the forums for help.
