Paul from Newegg was going to post results on his YouTube Channel, but must have run in to some problems because he did not post them when he said he was and the vid he made showing them running in the background looked like they may have been crashing....though his work environment was not really conducive for running benchmarks anyway.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIA4ofD8PKg&feature=share&list=UUvWWf-LYjaujE50iYai8WgQ

I imagine he will eventually get around to posting them when he gets done.

If someone made CrossFire specific aftermarket air coolers to handle the 290s in sandwich mode I'd be all over it now. Right now the aftermarket coolers/cards are junk for such a setup.

If you got $$ for 4 very expensive GPUs, its nothing to setup a water cooling custom loop on them.. giant radiator outside, low noise fans, silent rig and massive performance.

Going even CF/SLI on reference blowers is a lot of noise, even on NV ones, you have to manual crank up the fan % to sustain the highest tier boost clocks.

I'd stick with the 6gig Titans. Hawaii isn't really that big of an improvement to make it worthwhile, and I'd be concerned with "only" 3gig on the 780ti with that much GPU power. IMHO, of course.

That's what I'm thinking.

I can probably pick up a used Titan at a great price now that the 780Ti is out. Max out my ASRock Extreme11 motherboard with 4-Way SLI.

Speaking of:

I'm not going to bid, but that is actually a pretty good price if they thing has not been beat to death.

-edit-

Ah, has coil whine in low end benchmarks he says..but not games

edit again...

Brand new...only $600 bid so far

My thoughts exactly. He seems he like the bleeding edge of technology and have some of the best components their is so a used titan now and a more true upgrade when nvidia decides to improve the titian.

nVidia or AMD. He doesn't seem to be all in on one brand.

Yea I know but I was not implying that he should stick to nvidia as I have love for both company. I'll give a slight edge to nvidia based on the added stuff like phys x but I will be happy with either. He also mentioned a 4th titan so to me it would be a much wiser choice because given that a ti version of the 780 was released, the titan is also due for an upgrade which will most likely be better because the current one has double the vram.

20nm cannot come fast enough.

Yeah, I'd think that we've pretty much wrung out everything we can from 28nm. I wish both companies had actually refreshed the rest of their lineup instead of rebadging. I suppose once all of the 7000 series have dried up we can get the pro (non X) versions of AMD's lineup. That should move pricing down a bit on some cards, I would guess.

We're all just lucky that desktop GPU's have outrun consoles to the point where we don't really need to upgrade anymore. Anyone with a 7870/660Ti and up should be golden until 20nm cards are ubiquitous.

7% more computation resources for 2x less memory? Good for a single card or two cards where you couldn't possibly utilize that much memory with playable frame-rates but I wouldn't make that trade-off with 3 or 4 cards.

I'd like to see 3 and 4 way Crossfire and SLI benchmarks with recent drivers. I recall reading 4 way setups having cases of worse performance with some games than with 3 cards, but that was a while ago. I'd like to see if things have improved.

The LEPA G1600 power supply and EVGA Pro lighted quad SLI bridge has been ordered.

Well... I can completely forget about going quad 290X or anything else now. I have another Titan on the way.

Thought about going to fold for the teAm? But that's a beast setup, hope you don't encounter a wild quad sli issue. Best luck!

I folded for a while a couple years back. I'll try to fire up the F@H clients on all 4 GPUs and the CPU to see what this single PC can do.

I was using Quad SLI when I had two 690s. Didn't have very many issues. There was a game or two that actually performed much worse than 3 or even 2 Way SLI. I was able to fix the issue with nVidia Inspector by limiting SLI to 3 cards and still retain the custom SLI bits profile.

Wow, awesome.

What is pushing ya for more performance? A specific game or setting that you need/want more frames in. Or is this just to satisfy an upgrade itch that comes up when new cards are released?

The new cards initiated an upgrade itch. Had to scratch it by getting another Titan.

I was also able to reduce my CPU temps and gain more performance. Custom water cooling wasn't required in the process.
It wasn't "required" in my setup with a 3930k at 4.4Ghz and 2 GTX670 FTWs in SLI but, though some $$, I've found it to be really worthwhile. The video cards and rig are MUCH quieter and the CPU is significantly cooler. I see you have a Corsair H110 on your 4960K but I'll bet dollars to donuts a new custom water cooling system will cool it better and allow all three Titans to be cooled and able to be cranked up in OCing. I respect your decision not to do that.

What I found amazing was the significance of the gpu cooling using a custom water cooling system.

By being able to reduce my temps and gain more performance I was alluding to the fact that I replaced my 3960X with the 4960X in order to accomplish that. lol

It runs cooler and is faster at the same clock speed.

I would not want to be standing in front of the exhaust from those cards.

IMO: I wouldn't worry about 3GB or 6GB, was the 3GB better off than the 1.5GB 580? No, it was obsolete long before the buffer mattered.

Same thing with GK110, when 6GB vs 3GB matters, none of the cards out today will.
