Any 760 mobos available yet?

Does anyone know if there are any 760-based mobos available yet, or if not, when they will be?

According to a quick search on PriceWatch, United Distribution has two AMD 760 boards avaiable: A BioStar, & a Gigabyte.

However, their website has them listed as pre-order for 12/18.

I know that the general concensus is that the Gigabyte boards generally blow...

It seems there is only one company currently offering 760 chipset motherboards, here is a link to the one I could find:

Gigabyte GA-7DX 760 Motherboard

The above 2 will be available 12/18, so in about a week.

They are allowing you to make pre-orders on these. In the past I've not had good luck pre-ordering hardware as ETA dates always change but that looks like your best/only bet at this point.

Neither company is top of the line and Asus has a board in the works. If I were you i would wait until a few things happen:

1) DDR Memory becomes readily available and inexpensive

2) This chipset undergoes a couple revisions if necessary, if not, proper hands-on testing is done

3) Other major manufacturers of high quality boards (MSI, Asus, Abit) makes 1 or 2 of these boards

4) Tomshardware, sharkyextreme, or AnandTech does a review of all the available 760 boards once more easily obtainable

Okay, I'm in a bit of a strange place then... I'm building a new machine to replace the old Celery 366@550, do you think i should wait until Jan/Feb to do this? Or should I blow the money on a PC133 machine, and upgrade in like 6 months?

I suggest you wait untill eager users fullfil their thirst to carry out 'free beta testing' for the AMD 760 chipset. Wait untill you see the coplaints on various places online, wait untill there are 2 bios updates and then think about buying any 760 motherboard or indeed any motherboard.

News From The ABIT Grapevine 03:30 AM IDT Adrian Wong

ABIT will most probably be announcing the release of their AMD 760 motherboard sometime this week. It will be called the ABIT KG7 and it will come with a feature that no other AMD 760 motherboards have. I couldn't get much other than that but it's probably an extra hardware feature.

Note that the KG7 is not an OEM board. According to ABIT's internal nomenclature, only boards with a -20 in their model numbers are OEM-only motherboards which will not be available for retail sales. The KG7, as far as I know, will be for retail sale. Yahooo!!!

Oh yeah... remember @Flash? Well, it's been renamed to FlashMenu. SoftMenu... FlashMenu... it rhymes! That's all the ABIT-related news I have for now. Check back later for more on the ABIT KG7.
