Any Asus P8P67 owners with 1253 bios having HDD problems?

My system has become really unstable since I flashed my bios. I have intermittent crashes on all of my drives including a RAID setup. When I hear the heads of my HDDs park, a crash is imminent.

Is anyone else having these issues?

That's too much of an effort. I'm going to go back down to 1053 until they put out a more stable bios.

I thought I was having HDD failures and was backing up my files but this bios is so unstable it randomly stops my drives cold. I just had my RAID setup go missing.

Ah OK. I wasn't sure if it was widespread or not. I was freaking out bc I thought I lost my archive drive or that it was going bad.

Nah, its still there
next bios update it will magically reappear

Hehe, too true.

My SSD does not show up in boot priority list but the box boots up fine and everything checks out right in windows. Showed up OK in 1053 and will probably show up ok in next release.

No exotic drive configurations on this box though, 1DVD, 1 SSD, 1 spindle HDD.

Even with the older bios, my SSD doesn't show up on the boot priority either. I have to go and click on the SSD in the boot menu on the bottom. Fortunately, the bios seems to remember that's the one to use. I wonder if it slows down the post though?

I'm running 1253 with my Crucial C300 SSD drive. It works, but it does have issues. I played BC2 last night for like 3 hours without a problem. But sometimes it fails to boot windows. I know Asus is working on a fix so we'll see...

I've been one of the fortunate so far. First thing I did when I built my new system was cleared the CMOS since it was suggested on these forums and then updated the UEFI to 1253. SSD is on SATA port 3, data drive on SATA port 4 and DVD-W on SATA port 5. No issues to date. Never had the double boot issue.

No problems here with the P8P67 Deluxe with 1253.
Running OCZ RevoDrive X2 on PCie (3rd socket)
RealSSD C300 on Intel SATA 6Gbps (port 1)
Vertex 2 on SATA 3Gbps (port 3)
Samsung F3 on Marvell
Samsung F1 on Marvell
Two opticals on Intel SATA 3 Gbps ( ports 4 and 5)

In fact, no issues at all with this board or BIOS.

The prob seems to be with crucial or corsair SSD with O/S on Intel 6GBs - and a "normal" HDD with no O/S on Intel SATA 3GBs
So if you Wendy wish to test your mobo, you would have to remove the vertex on SATA 3GBs and replace with like the Samsung F3 (no O/S)

But I dont blame you if you dont want to ruin your config

Similarly, stripermike your config is known to work - both SSD and "normal" HDD on Intel SATA 3GB/s. If you throw your SSD on SATA 6GBs and leave your other drive where it is - this the test of 1253.
Actually, I would be REALLY curious what happens

Were your HDDs attached before you installed the OS? Just curious.

The OS is on the RevoDrive, and I always disconnect all other drives while installing the OS. I also install Win7 from a USB pendrive.

Once the OS is installed, I install the chipset drivers and the RST drivers, then close down the PC and add the SSDs/HDDs on Intel SATA, then allow Win7 to find them, etc etc. Lastly I close down again and add the drives to Marvell, boot back up and install the Marvell drivers, and restart.

The vertex 2 and Crucial C300 will be removed from the system shortly, as they are only there because i'm testing Intel SATA for an article.

That is interesting.

My SSD is attached to the 6GB because I needed the Marvell controller for my RAID setup. My non-OS HDDs are on the remaining controllers except the 6GB port.

OK. Now I'm not sure if it's the bios or not. My computer shut down after I got home just now and leaving it idling for 4 hours. I heard the heads of one of my drives park and sure enough, the PC crashed.

When I tried to reboot, it rebooted two times. Then on the third attempt, the Marvell controller said my RAID setup was not there. After it shut itself down a couple more times I was finally able to get into the bios. It said that there was a power surge and needed to shut down safely. The 5V meter kept fluctuating in the red at around 4.2-4.7V. The other meters were fine. I was never able to get the PC to boot. I'm wondering if my PSU is going bad, the MB is bad or the bios is bad. Any ideas?

Edit: My PSU is 3-4 years old

Got this from BoomerD off another site...

Anyone try this yet?

My recommendation would be:

SDD Marvel
ODD Intel SATA II 2x
HDD Intel SATA II 2x
(since each RAID 0 drive has its own SATA II connection, the throughput is additive. They won't be "stuck" at 300 MB/s, b/c with 2 drives and 2 SATA II connections, your combined max throughput is 600 MB/s. As long as no single drive is faster than 300 MB/s (which at this point is true), you're not in danger of maxing out your max throughput.)

fyi: plugging a SATA II device in a SATA 6gps will give you no improvements. But I recommend the SDD going to the Marvel due to the only fact the Marvel has much better read speeds even when it's backward compatible in SATA II mode.

Same here. Mine has been completely solid since updating, but no SSD or RAID here. Went straight from 0402 to 1253. All the intermittent freezes and blue screens for me are gone.

Well it seems those with SSDs and HDDs are still having issues (makes me feel better, misery loves company)...
