Hey people! I haven't posted in this thread in a long while...

I finally got an Epox 8RDA+ board (after an abortive couple of days with an FIC AU13), and was lucky enough to get the new A1 NB stepping! It's all it's cracked up to be...got the board up and running last night with my JIUHB 0302 and 512Mb Twinmos/Winbond at 10x200 without any effort! I kept waiting for something to crash......and nothing did, no matter what I tried!

I just finished running 12 hours of Prime without any errors. Now the real fun can begin!

I originally got the AU13 from Mwave. When that didn't work out, voltage fluctuation and generally cryptic BIOS, I upgraded to the 8RDA+, which was $95 at the time! No problem getting an RMA from MWave...the AU13 goes back tomorrow....

I ran my 366@458, 83 FSB, 41 PCI. For 4 years. No drive problems with my Quantum Bigfoot CY, my Seagate Barracuda ATA I and my IBM DeskStar 120GXP. Only a Maxtor Diamond Max 91303D6 wasn't able to run DMA... but DMA didn't worked at all on this board. Strange that now it works fine on my NF7-S. But near the end the IDE controller started to give problems, e.g. my CD writer only made DMA on primary slave e.g.

i wouldn't trust Prime anymore:Q. Prime passed the 24 hour mark while DiVX failed in just 15mins:Q

yup there's a thread about not trusting prime

for me... it's prime... then running wc 3...

seems that wc3 crashes on me if my cpu isn't stable which i like (that it notices)

on a positive note though...

my 0310upmw (not the w) has stablized very well... its temps are now around 47C's @ 1.8volts yay (it never ran at this temp unless it was 30degrees outside) and it's almost 60degrees outside!!!

i've decided that i was going to try a water setup soon... i think my temps now are limiting my o/c so... yeah... it'll be fun!!! WOO HOO

I had an interesting time yesterday with the "FSB Ghost"...

After running at 10x200 for over 12 hours, any multipier setting over 10.5 would cause Prime to error out almost immediately! I did get to run at 10.5x200 for 10 hours successfully. The system just finished 9 hours of Prime at 11x196 (5-2-2-2) at 1.8V, still chugging!

I'm using PC3200 Twinmos/Winbond @2.77VDIMM, and settings I've tried are here:

6-3-3-2.5 Generally good results - my 2 successful Prime runs used this setting
3-3-2-2
5-2-2-2 This setting is presently still running Prime

What do other people use for settings at or around 200FSB? Do you have better results with "relaxed" settings? This is the first time I've every really tried "tighter" timings, so I have no experience with them!

I have noticed the increase in performance at these bus speeds as compared to using higher multipliers/lower FSB in my 8K5A2 board. There's over a 1000 point increase in PCMark score over the same chip in the other board, even though the final clock speed rating is almost identical. (So far!)

I don't really trust any of this software to stress test a cpu and everythings else. There are so many things that can go wrong when making a program I would trust prime over divx to be honest. That's just my opinion.

Well, I prefer Prime95 and memtest86 over something like divx, because the former two compare what your system produces with known good results, so if something gets fvcked, you'll know it immediately. With divx, you have to depend on the quality of your video card, monitor, and oculus to detect errors, and sometimes the artifacts might be easy to miss.

Yeah, as an ex-QA manager, I prefer to see testing against known values. Most of the time Prime will error almost immediately if it's a bad OC, but I have had it error out once at 9 hours.

BTW, my 12 hour run at 11x196 was successful - no errors!

P95 is a good system tester but it isn't the be all & end all ,at the end of the day you need to try mutliple apps & games.

Inccidently when I went to CAS 2.5-2-2-5 from 2.5-2-2-6 P95 ran fine for a few hours (maybe not long enough??) but IE started thowing up errors all over the place!

Links4me,

Any chance that you could post the rest of the data from that 1700?

Thanks

I heard that 0310 was the last week for 1700+s. Curious to see how this week is.

Guys, if you want to stress-test your systems, I'd recommend CPUburn *
Use BURNK7 to see your Athlon's CPU temp go 7C higher than SETI or Prime95. (Sadly he's not done a customised P4 version.)
Use BURNMMX to stress your Northbridge, most particularly the memory controller, and RAM.
Once you've got it warmed up, run memtest86 just to make sure all your memory works at your OC.

* When I say I'd recommend this, I ought to point out that I recommend this for stress-testing, and of course the risk you run when stress-testing is that you overstress stuff, let the blue smoke out, and it never works again. Apologies to those who don't need to be warned.

the stock nb cooler should be good enough on the nb for the nf7-s

Here's the info on the Tbred B 1700+ AXDA1700DUT3C 9429157270634 JIUHB 0311XPMW according to this guy Tbreds Revision B or A it's considered a low end "B"

Shim, thanks for the info on the nb, I read so much of the 8RDA+ thread that I was thinking that I would need a different cooler for this one.

Sheesh, CPUBurn really cooked my cpu... I was @ 67C (NF7-S v2.0) under full load w/prime and F@H, but then it went up to 71C :Q in just a few minutes before I shut it off!
