I tried pushing it higher, but it doesn't seem to like high FSB with multipliers > 12x. So...I am left with something along the lines of 150MHz x 11.0. It's not that bad, but then again, it could be so much better if it were a "B" core.

Well...tomorrow theres a computer expo near my area and I'm definitely going so if they are selling AMD CPU's then I'll be sure to pick up an AXDA1700DLT3C or DUT3C JIUHB 0310XPMW because those things seem to have the liking of high speed!

yeah all the 0310's seem to like speed... w,u, or x....

i've tried out two w's and one u...

they all did pretty well...

Greetings everyone!

I just ordered my TBred B...couple day till it arrives. I'll have the cash for the mobo next week, so here is what I'm looking at ... and I've seen a lot of you using one or two of these, after all your tests - can anyone say which is better?

Asus A7N8X Del

Chaintech 7NJS

Epox 8RDA+

I've seen them all be better than the other on different sites. Right now I'm not looking for RAID or for SATA. Just stability, and OC power I guess.

Thanks for anything you can offer up.

I bought two processors from Newegg 2 days ago, a 1700+ and a 2000+, steppings are AXDA1700DLT3C, AIUGA 0248RPMW and AXDA2000DKT3C, AIUGA 0235MPM. From everything I've read so far, these are both Thoroughbred A's, but I wanted to see if anyone could confirm, thanks.

Don't leave the Abit NF7-S out of that list either! It's a great board that has been performing well... except for the SATA raid of course...

sweet! I hit 1833 MHz, but didn't have enough time to run prime95 (24 hours of that???? :frown: ). Anyways, I hit 1833 MHz and that's all that matters. It was running 40C idle which is about 10C lower than what my old Tbird would run at @ stock speed of 1.4 GHz. The VCore is set to 1.675, which gives me 1.71V in windows. I guess this A core isn't too much of an overclocker but isn't too bad of an overclocker either (when compared to my old 8.5x166 1.4GHz Tbird).

I saw someone I think blooz talking about an A1 stepping on a North Bridge what exactly is that?

At the end of my North Bridge it has an A3 stepping and the same with my southbridge.

Another xp1700+ for me.. from excaliberpc again

AXDA1700DLT3C
JIUHB 0310WPMW

Now at 2.41 GHz @ 1.8v.. 200 MHz FSB. Pretty good stuff
Mobo is an Epox 8RDA+ C1 stepping and the memory is TwinMOS 2x 256mb running dual channel DDR.

apparently, the A1/C1 stepping is featured in most Rev 2.0 boards........so it has a better chance of hitting the 200MHz FSB

Yeah, the latest 8RDA+ boards are shipping with the A1 (or "C1", as it shows up in software) stepping, which allows 200FSB pretty much "out of the box".

A "quick and dirty" way to tell if a board has this chip is to lok down through the fins of the stock HS, and if no silver is visible, it's an A1. The A2 and A3 revs both had a silver colored metal inset with the markings, whereas the A1 is all black.

All I've done to my board was to lap the stock HS (a MAJOR project!) and re-installed it using the new AS "Ceramique" compound. My board is running at 11x200FSB without much effort. VDD seems to run about 1.57-1.59, and the NB temps run under 30C even under load.

I'm a little confused by this. I just got a new 8RDA+ from Newegg. The board has Rev 1.1 printed on it. Yet, when looking at the northbridge through the HS fins, I see no silver -- just black. According to all the recent posts, this indicates A1/C1 stepping.

Is there really a Rev 2.0 circuit board out there or have the newer boards with the "black" northbridges just aquired a "Rev 2.0" nickname?

Thanks

Ok, hey guys, I don't have time to search through the whole thread, so I'm sorry if you covered this already, but where's the best place to get the 1700+ t-bred B at the best price? Also, I have a MSI K7T-266Pro2, would it let me change the multiplier on the chip? Thanks, can't wait to get a this cpu.

Hey all. Just bought myself a AXDA1700DUT3C JUIHB0312XPMW. Don't know how well it will overclock, but I hope it does better than my 4 day old T-Bred A haha I wasted another $60 on a CPU that will be going into a system that doesn't do anything more than word processing and light gaming. I'd just like to brag about an overclock that is greater than 400MHz.

Anyone know how well this CPU overclocks?

mine doesn't, however, since we're using different bioses(mine's a KT266Pro2-RU), it just may work

Finally got home and I have the TBred B running at 2140 MHz, or 171 x 12.5. This is great compared to my TBred A that I purchased just last week...talk about a waste of money. Well, I might be selling the A on eBay or something of the sort. Or maybe keep it and put it into another rig that I have in my closet...collecting dust. I want to push this sucker up some more though. 2140MHz isn't the limit, I know that for a facT! I want to see at least 2.3 GHz or 2.25 GHz out of this. Then I will be satisfied.

Oh, the temps are 38C idle, 42C load. This is on 1.65 VCore in BIOS, 1.696 VCore in windows.

Can I just ask/add why there has been no talk of a 2400 O/C as it seems from reading that an 1700 can in a "worst case scenario" with stock HSF and no voltage mods can get to 2400 speeds.
Why not start with a 2400 (2ghz) speed to begin with and see where that takes you?
Is it that the core cannot take much more of a beating? cause the 2400 is only a few dollars more
My thinking is that at least with the 2400 you are guaranteed a t-bred B core rather than buying something only to find out later that its a t-bred A core

about 1 month ago, the prices of the 2400+ were nearly triple of the 1700+
and 2.5GHz is more or less the limit of the T-Bred B so even though you get the 2400+, your max overclock aircooled will only hover around that speed
