Why not start with a 2400 (2ghz) speed to begin with and see where that takes you?

What the others said ,even now the XP2400 is still about double the cost of an XP1700 ,at least here in the UK ,XP 1700 £42 ,XP2400 £84.
Btw some places will specify that they are selling you a B core Tbred

Is this TwinMOS/WinBond memory? or another brand with winbond chips?

BTW I am using SLK800U/80mm Stealth Fan for the CPU

AXDA1700UT3C
JIUHB 0309UPMW

Is this an A or a B?

Since everyone is saying the 0310's OC well hopefully the week before still is good =).

It's a B and yes the 0310's do overclock very well. I just wish newegg had sent me a B core instead of that crappy A core...

I have the dlt3c 0310 xpmw and i am running at 200*11 and STOCK voltage
this is using a vantec areoflow and the soltek 7rn2

anyways i got cheap ram, the samsung pc3200
so i dont know how far the fsb can go

hopefully i can push this chip to 2.4

I got mine from googlegear.com for $49 a few weeks ago Tbred B 1700+ AXDA1700DUT3C 9429157270634 JIUHB 0311XPMW...still haven't had the time or the $$$ to buy the mobo or memory etc.... They advertise in pricewatch:
AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 1.47GHz Processor Manufacturer Part#: AXDA1700DUT3C
at $48 shipped.....that indicates that they are selling b's......mine was one, so maybe that is all they sell.....

Good lord. 0312 sucks a big onE! I got this sucker up to 177x12.5 and its crapping out on me at 1.8 actual vcore! this is +.2 from the stock 1.6...and even then my Asus board overvolts and gives me 1.65 VCore as default. Oh well...i guess I'll try something like 200x11 like these other people, but I dont think it will hit that high because of my RAM. Corsair PC2700 twinx...good stuff, but i don't know how far it will overclock...

CPU Score 663.0 CPUMarks

Prime95 for 6 Hours and no video problem.

Best I can do stable is 11x194 = 2136 @ 1.8vcore (1.85 according to asus prob)
I could raise the vcore up another .05 but I think im good here. Gives me 45C at full load which is a good 5C cooler than my old Tbird.

At default speed this thing was cool! 90F at full cpu load... thats ... cool!

ive tried 200x11 and it locks up the second I load up prime.

Ill give it one last shot before sleep

The HSF im using is a millenium glaciator - its about 750grams of copper. MB temps read 24C and CPu is at 45C.

Update: I just changed my mults from 12.5x200=2.5GHz to 15x166=2.5GHz
so now i have dual channel ddr 333
