what's the gas/power situation like?

I'm leaving NJ tomorrow to drive up to Portland, ME... I figure I'll have a little over half a tank in my car after getting home from work tonight. I'm debating if I should suffer through the hours+ lines for gas in Jersey to fill-up before I leave, or if I can safely assume that filling up won't be a problem as I drive up and get into the New Haven/Hartford area?

Replied to you in the other thread - I'm in Hartford, no issues here. I've been driving around the area the last couple of days and things are fine. Once you get out of that lower left corner by NYC & the coast, there's not much damage. If you get stranded, PM me and I'll send one of our local ATOT crew members over with a gas can

based on past experiences, I'll probably start thinking about gassing up around Bridgeport/New Haven, and Hartford will be the "OMG, must get gas now!" point.

glad to hear it's not quite as post-apocalyptic as Jersey is right now.

In Hartford too. You'll be fine.

Just don't get gas at a pump that already has a car parked next to it with a passenger inside. If you do, make sure you a) wait more than two minutes to be sure the person isn't paying inside or b) have a knife in your car.

Hartford to Brooklyn to Hartford last night. The only gas issue was in NY, in the city - just long lines is all. Roads are fine.

Im in SE CT.. Right off I95 (Assuming you'd be taking that highway all the way up) and thins are fine around here. Some places still don't have power, but mostly residences and stuff. Seems like all the business areas are up and running.

Don't buy gas in CT.....highest prices I've seen between MD and Mass, not including NYC. Scoot through CT if you can without buying gas and buy in RI. Your wallet will thank you.

filled up fine just outside of Hartford, down to ~20% in my tank (so I didn't want to push it into MA).

just outside of NYC and into New Haven, still seemed like lots of lines and gas stations with no power.
