Any Bartenders in the house?

Just looking on information how to try to get a part-time job as a bartender?
Is taking the bartender class all I need to get at least a job somewhere? How about a place like Friday's, Chillis, Bennigan's?
Need some extra cash and also like to meet some people through that method...

Why not an actual bar. I had much more fun doing that. I do on occasion. money is good, but of course, the patrons are aash0les

Most places I seen such as Bennigan's, Chilli's etc seem to have a much younger staff 20-30. Also their bartending requirements seem less than local bars. I used to work at a country club and I can tell the difference in client style and how busy they get etc etc.. I also don't think that after taking the course I could jump to a local bar or pub.. around my house they are packed in the summer.

I am also interested in doing this. Seems like it would be a great way to make cash..and i love pubs and beer. I know you cant drink during your job but...still

yeah, its probably easier to get in those chain places.
i think it depends on where you are for what you need...as well as what they are serving, etc.
i had to take a class when i lived in MD...basically to become (what they called) TiPS certified. just take tests and watch vignettes of people acting like jackasses and then rate them on if they should be served or not.
then we had to ID fake IDs...which was sort of pointless because they has scanners at that point to give us age and whatnot. it was kind of fun and was only an about six hours. (broken up, of course)

Yeah that also, I don't want to get in a scam training school where they send you to crappy jobs or like temp jobs.
I was also checking out some local bartender schools here in NY and they have all been under investigation by NY state for unlicense practices... that doesnt sound very reliable.

Also this school advertize like you are going to make tons of money; your new career... I'm not in it for that. Just make some extra bucks, have some fun, make some new friends etc etc.

Go to a bartending school that has "graduate" placement.

Find a good one by going to a bar and asking the bartender where you could go.

You'd make some decent money from a chain restaurant bar, but you'll make damn good money at anything other than a redneck bar.

no, you need to start up as a waiter at a restaurant or cocktail server at a club and move up to bartender. 80% of the waiters at any particular restaurant all want to be the next bartender. Only way they hire you off the street as a bartender is if you have a lot of experience as a bartender or are a super hot chick. I have never worked with a bartender that went to one of those bartending schools.
