I got a few questions regarding tables, I'm curious as to how much the smaller tables cost.

Smaller tables for the little people? I don't own a poor table myself, but a couple of my friends do. Just make sure you don't buy the cheap stuff, 'cause the "carpet" wears out real quick on the cheap ones.

im looking around on craigs for a 7' or so...Im not sure what you mean by pocket billiards or cushion billiards, blackdogdeek. I just play Nine ball and would like something to practice on when I got time.

$2000 seems high. When I was young, my family paid $700 for a small one and that was not even the bottom of the barrel, though it was close.

well, that's when you were YOUNG>

$1,000 + is reasonable price for a good quality pool table (pocket or not)

Yes, but to go from $700 to $2000 is not likely. I'm not THAT old. Online stores seem to be around $1,000 minimum for a decently made one. I imagine I could probably get the same table I had as a kid for under $1000.

you can get decent shape used ones for $300 on craigslist. doesn't sound like you need a $1k table to me....

In 1998 or so, my family bought a standard 8' pool table by Olhauson (top of the line company) for just about $2000. This included, delivery, setup, pool cues, billiard balls, rack (triangle and diamond), chalk, and brush.

But i'm sure you can get a cheaper table...reason mines was $2k was b/c it was really nice, contemporary model.

I have a table that was labeled as a local brand (Buckhorn) but was manufactured by vitalie. 8' table (what you normally find in bars) and is of excellent construction.

"Virtual Pool 3" by Interplay, is excellent for 3D pool on your computer screen. About $10.

Keep watching. Pool tables are like dogs or cats: when you can't take them to the next place, they become a huge liability and get given away, or nearly so.

Look for used tables, I see them all the time in the local classifieds and on eBay. It'll cost you probably $200 to get it taken apart, delivered, and put back together, but you'll get a better table for your money probably.

I'm guessing non-slate tables ("slatron") are inferior, so I'd probably avoid those.

How big is the room you're putting it in?

Paid $200 for my 3 piece slate 7' table w/ no felt, refelted myself for $75
