any cheap-ass friends/co-workers who don't pay squat at the coffee shop?

sometimes when a bunch of us guys would walk across this cafeteria on our way to the next class and if i stopped to get a cup of coffee or something, i'd ask the guys if they wanted something and i'd get it for them if they said 'yes'. but the same bunch of people would never ask me if i was around (without any change) and they were buying something.

is it wrong to expect something in return after sort of helping them out quite a number of times?

I never ask people if they want anything, but if people asked if i could pick something up for thme i have no problem doing it. goes the other way too, i dont care if you go get coffee without asking anyone else, but if you're asking, ill make an order and offer to pay you back.

If you pick up stuff for someone often, and you know they're headin for some coffee, just tell them to grab you something while they're there.

Chances are no one even knows you're upset about this

On the other hand, I tend to do nice things for the sake of doing the nice thing, not for the possibility of rewards. But with that in mind, it is also dependent on how much time and energy I'm willing to invest in niceness.

And remember, "cheap-ass friends" are better than "cheap ass-friends."

Or, maybe not, if that's your thing.

will do that from now on. niceness is too expensive for me. and it's not like i expect a whole lot from them in return and heck i would just say "no thank you" most of the times, anyway. but you kind of expect them to at least "ask" just as common courtesy but the bast*ds don't even do that

When we give we are not making a pay me back contract. If we are running errands and there is an expense, then the person who causes the expense owes. You should never be embarrassed to discuss money. Heck, it is your duty!

Yes, because you're just as much a turd as they are. If people always expected ****** in return for everything they did, then this world would be crappier than it already feels.

But then again you did buy the guy coffee! Just tell him it was the nicest thing you've done for anyone and expect more than just a thank you.
