I'd look at the Saturn Vue w/ the 3.5L outsourced from Honda before I pulled the trigger on the clunker 3.4L piecemealed together and built in china that's in the Equinox.

I personally wouldn't be able to spend a ton of money on a vehicle knowing that its "second-rate" engineering... only 184 hp from a 3.4, come on now GM

You realize not everyone wants a high compression motor that uses premium? Lower compression ratio means more reliability.
That being said, the 3.4L is a terrible motor.

Budget is around $15k, with a little bit of range. KBB on the model we drove is $17.4, I've got them down to $14.9 and I'm also getting $4800 for my wife's 2002 Kia Optima that will pay off the existing loan (KBB on hers is $4300, I told them I didn't want to roll the neg. equity to the new loan). I feel like I've done everything I can and have been a real stickler, including the use of akward silence :Q

Average book is about $14k, and this is last month's data. I'd try to go down some more.

You can get a used Honda CRV for cheaper. Nice for gas as well.
As for the Equinox, I think it has a nice exterior design. Not too sure about the interior. I would take the CRV over it.
Not really - it is a good old torquey V6. Under powered comparatively, yes, but if the OP is happy with the power it is a fine motor.Originally posted by: Christobevii3

My father has one and loves it. It's been super reliable. His only complaint is that it's slow.
