Tools in general, whether it's kitchen stuff or power or hand tools. I tend to go for the more expensive/higher end stuff hoping it's going to last longer. If I see anything made in Canada or made in USA, I get it for sure.
It's hard to find good tools now days though, because it's mostly all made in China and made to be as cheap as possible. I've actually had hand tools snap in my hand, without much force. A lot of tool metal now days is not even real metal, it's some kind of ceramic or porcelain or something that has a thin metal coating on it. I think the coating is real actual metal, because it is magnetic, but the rest of the tool is not. Or it might be some powder metal mixed with a resin or something.
I tend to go for higher end stuff for computer/network/server parts too. Though I also hate to overpay just for the sake of overpaying. Ex: I hate the fact that most enterprise gear is ridiculously expensive, it does not need to be THAT expensive. I tend to be more in the middle, I'll buy Supermicro as it's better than desktop stuff, but I won't buy IBM or other similar brand because I don't want to overpay just because it has that name on it.
