Any dangers of using Google or Facebook to log in to another service?

As opposed to registering with the site's authentication system? A friend recently was telling me that I should always use Facebook/Google login option as passwords are encrypted. In the case of site's which have their own registration/auth system he said you can never be sure if your password is stored securely and encrypted. Thanks in advance for any insight you are able to offer!

Not sure. That could probably swing both ways. Centralizing credential storage gives attackers everything in case of a breach. It also tells the great google what sites you visit. OTOH, smaller sites may not have as good a system as google, though they also may. It also alows one to remember a difficult password which is more likely than remembering 10 good passwords.

I prefer using the site's native login, and a password manager. My general philosophy with everything in life is distributed is better than centralized. Not putting all your eggs in one basket, and whatnot...

I never use the same password for anything. That is bad practice and that facebook login thing is crap IMO. I would use Keepass or the extension PWDhash for Firefox or Firefox-like browsers.
