What did you feel like before you got diagnosed? I mean I know I can go online and read the symptoms but looking for just straight up first hand experience.

Is extreme morning hunger no matter what you eat the night before a symptom of diabetes?

I can't sleep more than 3 or 4 hours a night and wake up feeling extremely hungry, even if I literally eat a cheeseburger right before I go to sleep. I feel like my body isn't extracting any nutrients from food anymore or something. Is this diabetes? To feel hungry and weak all the time? I eat over 2,000 cals a day and lots of protein, meat etc...

If all you are is hungry all the time, I doubt that it's diabetes. There are plenty of other symptoms (extreme thirst and peeing constantly, among others).

I am a diabetic of 25 years standing. (although my feet are starting to go numb) I eat twice a day. I don't eat until 12 noon. I am never hungry in morning. I second tapeworm diagnosis.

I'm an endocrinologist (diabetes doctor among other things).

Your symptom of nighttime hunger may be from diabetes. Some early diabetics actually have low sugars 2-3 hours after a carbohydrate rich meal. This is because their body is making insulin late, and that late insulin is acting on the body's sugar and dropping it low. Sounds counter-intuitive but it's actually quite common.

Are you losing any weight for no reason?
Drinking lots of water and peeing a lot?
Peeing multiple times at night?
Feeling very thirsty?
Worsening blurry vision (changing your prescription on your glasses)?

Anyway, don't want to point you the wrong way on some forums, but if you think you may be diabetic, easiest thing to do is to just get a set of labwork done. Simple blood test will tell you. Do it fasting though.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in April.

Had no clue I had it until I went to the doc and she said I hadn't had blood work done in a long time, lets check it. I'm 35 btw.

That's how I found out.

For awhile I was peeing a lot in the early morning but not sure it was because of diabetes. It stopped happening awhile before I was diagnosed and it's only happened once or twice since I was diagnosed.

It's weird because I'm not like super diabetic or whatever, I don't need insulin but they have me on Metformin.

I guess my levels were a bit high to put into the category for it but every time i test my sugar levels they are within the listed good range, but the diabetic specialist i saw wants me to get them lower.

So you had no symptoms? You weren't feeling hungry all the time? You weren't feeling physically weak or easily fatigued?

How has the metformin changed your quality of life?

No symptoms that I recognize as being diabetic. I don't think feeling hungry all the time is a symptom nor feeling physically weak or easily fatigued.

it hasn't changed my quality of life, other than having to remember to take it twice a day. I feel no better or worse with taking the metformin. they also put me on lisinopril and atorvastatin but still no change in how i feel.

I started eating better after I found out though and I've lost about 30 lbs since middle of april, so I feel a bit better that way, but the medication doesn't seem to affect me.

Based on your symptoms I'm fairly confident you have late-stage scurvy, and if it's not treated immediately you could die from a heightened sensitivity to botulism, rectal hemorrhage, and auto-flaying, which is much as it sounds: your body starts shedding dermal layers and you eventually die from that.

He could just drink a can of none diet soda and do a taste test the next time he takes a leak.

My symptoms came on abruptly.

Incredible thirst
Peeing all the time
Tingly toes
Feeling generally like shit

I was diagnosed with diabetes a couple of months ago out of the blue. I'm not overweight (could still lose a few) but my brothers both have it so the news wasn't a huge surprise if not a swift kick to the nuts. I just deal with it..... If it runs in the family there is a really good chance you're getting it although that isn't always the case and again diet and exercise are really important.

I take meds and watch what I eat. No or very little bread, pasta and such and eat reasonably. Exercise is important as is losing any excess weight. Typically the more weight you lose the better your body deals with sugar. I'm well on my way to weaning off of the drugs all together as I lose more weight and watch the diet.

Go get tested after you fast....simple.

Building muscles is also just as important as losing weight to reverse type 2 diabetes. Muscles store carbs.
