Epinephrine is extremely cheap—just a few cents per dose. The complications come from producing the easy auto-injecting devices. Mylan “owns” their auto-injector device design, so competitors must find work-arounds in their devices to deliver the epinephrine into the patient’s body. This task, coupled with the tangled mess of FDA red tape, has proven to be difficult for would-be EpiPen competitors. It’s like expecting somebody to come up with a new way to play baseball without bases, balls, gloves, or bats, but still getting the game approved by the MLB as a baseball game substitute.

A French pharmaceutical company offered an electronic device that actually talks people through the steps of administering the drug, but it was recalled because of concerns about it delivering the required dose. Just this year, Teva Pharmaceutical’s attempt at bringing a generic epinephrine injector to market in the US was blocked by the FDA. Adrenaclick and Twinject were unable to get insurance companies on board and so discontinued their injectors in 2012.

Adrenaclick has since come back, but it is still not covered by many insurance plans, and the FDA has made it illegal for pharmacies to substitute Adrenaclick as a generic alternative to EpiPen. Another company tried to sidestep the whole auto-injector patent barrier by offering prefilled syringes, but the FDA has stalled them, too.

Bitch about your state legistature, not the FDA.

The good news is that pharmacists in more than a dozen states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Vermont, and Washington can fill an EpiPen prescription with generic Adrenaclick—without returning to their physician for a new prescription, according to the drug's manufacturer, Impax Laboratories.

This was shared by several doc friends on fb:
We stock this generic epinephrine pen in our pharmacy. It costs about half of what it costs for us to purchase an Epipen pak. Have your doc write for "epinephrine auto injector" then your pharmacy can substitute any product and you are not locked in to brand Epipen. Most insurance companies love a generic so coverage and copays should be more affordable. I also suggest you find a local or independent pharmacy where you can talk to the pharmacist and the personnel will be more likely to help you with resources and maybe special pricing. Do not be shy or embarrassed if you need assistance. ASK!!!!!

I kind of included the photo in case someone's pharmacy says they don't know of this product. You can show the photo with the NDC # and say here it is!!!

if you visit the website on the box in the photo for more info there is a link to a copay card which can be used (read the restrictions first to see if you qualify) for up to $100 off a copay or up to $300 off cash price. I also see a rebate option. Yay!! This is rarely offered by generic manufacturers.

Seriously folks, people have been giving themselves insulin for decades, just get a small case and an RX for epi and syringes, get extra syringes, practice with water & oranges, the epi injectors aren't magic and using a syringe only adds a couple seconds to the process.

lmao, are you denying that the FDA is the primary body that allows this kind of profit-gouging to occur?
No, I'm saying that without the FCC, our airwaves would be in a sad state indeed, and that without the EPA, our air and water would be a hell of a lot dirtier. They both have problems, but to write them off entirely because of those problems is the mark of a special kind of moron.

Write your precious little opinion on a piece of paper, crumple it up into a little ball and jam it far, far up your ass where it belongs.

And for the record. Every time you quote me it's always assery. So stop being an ass.
You stop being a moron and I'll stop being an ass to you

NEVER take freedom for granted. NEVER let the government convince you it knows better. Reagan once said the following:

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Maybe if we shoot his corpse with enough epi-pens we can bring him back. Maybe start a fund raiser. Then we could hang him proper.

BTW, anyone else getting meth ads in this thread?

The freedom to charge whatever you want for medication?

Freedom for free enterprise without asinine government overreach and overzealous regulation that hinders said free enterprise. It's how this country became one of the greatest economies in the world. From the city scape of San Fransisco to Chicago to New York. We built things, we flourished, we made things. Now there is an overburden of outrageous corporate tax, and regulation. Not to mention crony capitalism with lobbying of which Mylan is guilty of.

Two things I would oust as POTUS:

1) Lobbying

2: Earmarks

Never trust the Fed.

Notice the gap opening up about 1980, then gradually narrowing through the Clinton years. What gives? This was the Volcker disinflation, when the Federal Reserve created a severe recession to restrain aggregate demand and therefore inflation, which in the late 1970s was running into double digits. The central bank did this by jacking up its benchmark interest rate target to nearly 20 percent. This made financing very expensive, and so dramatically cut purchases of homes and cars, thus slowing the economy.

Yeah, that's bullshit.

When President Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009, the total federal debt was $10,626,877,048,913.08. Now it has risen to $17,618,599,653,160.19 — up $6,991,722,604,247.11 from Obama’s first day on the job.

Facts don't lie.
Any comment on the REST of his post, with the illegal immigrant amnesty, the Iran Contra situation, and so forth?
You're 35 years old, you don't remember the Reagan presidency as it actually occurred, you have the St. Reagan version sponsored by Fox News.

Reagan was the biggest Big-government creating, deficit growing, treasonous asshole that this country has known.

Maybe rather than jack your dick off and cum all over his words, you should actually look into what Reagan actually did.

That chart is out of date.

Here's something more recent:

Right, so basically a gigantic pile of Bush Dub debt, the rate of growth from that was halted by nearly half with Obama. I mean, that's what these numbers actually show.

And of course Reagan doubled that debt for the first time, only to see it start shrinking until Dubs showed up and nearly tripled it
