Jeebus what kinda fish is that bottom one? the jaw looks weird on it almost like it can dislocate it to get longer range.

not bad for a Sunday with big waves crashing along the beach...
caught this this morning with a spinner bait. measured 17" long. it's got blood going down the side because it was hooked pretty deep, but the hook came out very easily and he swam off no problems.

i also caught another one not quite as big, but it was a very neat colored bass it like had tiger stripes near it's head. not sure what kinda bass it was but it looked really cool. don't know why i didn't snap a pic of it.
No idea where you are, but peacock bass (the one with stripes)?
I just don't get it. That desire to fish. I mean why?
Unless its the opportunity for some guys to escape the wife and kids for a few hours, plus drinking beer?
Looks too boring for me.
I'd rather lay out on a lawn chair and read a book, or bike, or hike, or walk, or ring neighborhood doorbells then run and hide.
Caller-ID, sadly, has pretty much killed off making obscene phone calls.
What gets me are housewives that go fishing, alone during the day, for hours.
I know of a few.
Anyone from Florida here have any tips on fishing from piers.. docks.. beach.. etc? I have some experience on deep sea fishing boats but I have very little to no experience from shore down here.
About to make an order from amazon. Not sure what hooks to get.. or what line, sinkers, lures.
Located in the Bradenton, Sarasota area.
I'd call the deep sea boats and just ask them or the pier. Fishing on the beach is complicated in most parts down there.
Mullet run is in full swing down here. Pods of mullet getting crushed by huge tarpon, jacks, and sharks. Trying to find some time this week to head to the beach and catch a few.
