Zoom flukes in watermelon and white, white/chartreuse on a 2/0 or 3/0 worm hook. Weightless, the fluke has enough weight to cast. Having weight messes with how the lure works in the water. No offset on the hook, you'll miss tons of fish because the hook won't be able to penetrate, you'll simply be pulling the hook and lure out of their mouth.

Also shaky heads with worms in watermellon, motor oil or white/chartreuse. Around here the small mouth and striper love white/chartreuse.

I've fallen in love with my new shimano rods. They're about 180 a piece but worth every penny for worm/jig fishing.

Finally starting hitting the Bass Monday when i went out, and Ive come to the conclusion that my ugly stick just isnt cutting it. I could barely feel even the big hits. In the hour i was out i was able to land 2 and missed at least 5.

yeah i have a shimano that i got for like $70 that i use for bass fishing. the thing is super sensitive and super light. awesome rod/reel.

i pretty much extensively use gary yamamoto senko worms and always have luck. i have a variety of colors. i typically get them in 5" but will get 4" if they don't have the 5". i will also try them in texas rig and whacky. some days i have better luck with one over the other, and it also depends where i'm fishing with weeds and what not.

i've had the best luck with junebug and white colored ones. also had luck with green/brown mixed color ones. the only color i have that i've really had no luck with is this bright red color ones.

i have a bunch of zoom worms that i have never had any luck with either.

Back in the day, I used Zoom worms and Lizards with success. It was on Bull Shoals lake where it's the perfect environment on points, along with jig-n-pig. With the latter you always were guaranteed to catch a smallmouth or two which is one of the best fish to catch IMO.

The hot lure has been gulp tails. You can buy them at Walmart. I use the tails on beetle spins and Johnson spoons.

Went to cumberland lake last weekend for more small mouth and stripers. Got 4-5 nice small mouths in the 3-4 pound range each day. Damn they fight. One dumb fish hit my worm/fluke as I was reeling it in super fast just to get it in the boat. He hit a plastic burning like a crank bait and hit it hard.

I had a striper hit my lure and broke me off. I cussed up a storm because it was MY fault I lost the fish. I haven't had one break off in a long time as I keep my drag somewhat lose (better than breaking line). I set the hook and felt the weight of the fish for 2-3 seconds, easily over 10 pounds. SNAP! I had tightened my drag earlier to bring a 4+ small mouth to the boat and we didn't have a net so my buddy lipped him to get him in the boat.

On top of that I knew it was time to retie my hook as the line looked nicked and a little rough to the touch. Two faults of mine - not taking care of my line/knot and drag to tight = you lose a nice one.

Most of the striper guides around here swear by 12 pound mono and loose drag = you can fight just about anything setup like that.

Word to the wise, watch your line and retie often.

He didn't get that big by clamping down on fishermen's bait. I've seen plenty of fat snook that will swim right up to your feet, look at your shrimp, pilchard, artificial, jig, etc. with that 'seriously?' look.

Mine just take the shrimps off the hook and swam off yelling "Thanks noobs!". Struck out yesterday. Still fun.

Spent about 13 hours on the boat on Saturday. Water was pretty rough for most of the day. About 20 - 30 miles offshore it was OK, but the trip out was not so fun. Not a very productive day - couple small dolphins and about a dozen snapper caught in 30 ft.

Here's one I've never seen before. Fishing in the channel yesterday because the neighbor's 10 year old "chummed" the inside of the boat when we tried offshore. Kid puts his rod down and it flies over the side of the boat with a fish on. About 15 seconds later, the other 10 year old's rod starts bending. He fights it to the boat, and it's the rod, still with the fish (channel cat) on. Rod and fish recovered, and a 10 year old avoiding his father's wrath for leaving a rod unattended.

5 Fishing trips and no luck so far. I did get a bass once but I couldn't hook him...he escaped.

We even hit up CT river this weekend (which was very nice).....but still no luck (water was not clear after all the rain).

Nice day though.

Shore fishing might be the issue here, but I'm not buying a boat, no way in hell.

At this point, ANYTHING

Mostly been focusing on trying to catch Bass (LM/SM), Trout, Pickerel, Walleye, Crappie.......Pike would be nice......ANY species in CT rivers/lakes.

We have 2 Abu Garcia rods (one spinning and other baitcast).

For lures we use Watermellon Sankos (few others, about 5), and my tackle box is filled with all kinds of different lures (Rapala etc). Fake frogs,shad...bunch of minnow looking ones.

We even tried live bait.

One thing I will say though is that we haven't been able to invest too much time this year. Maybe 2-3 hours, handful of days and about half day on the river.

Also we have not got out there VERY early in the morning or stayed late at night.

I am setting up a little minnow trap next time we go to the lake....or just getting some live bait.

went out twice this past weekend. first time i caught 3 bass within like 20 minutes. left after an hour because i really had to take a shit! june bug gary yamoto senko's were what i was using, texas rigged.

2nd place i didn't have any luck. tried a ton of different soft baits. no bites in like 3 hours. my friend had a coupld hits bith brown senko's but didn't land any. we did see another guy catch 3 fish, 1 REALLY big large mouth, but it got off right as it was coming out of the water at shore. he was pretty disappointed, definitely at least like 2 feet long. biggest large mouth bass i've ever seen in person.

I have those already, in just about any size. Also have one with a twirly thing in the back.

We just haven't had luck. We will get there, not giving up.

We simply enjoy fishing (as we love outdoors and nature), regardless if we catch them or not.

Finally caught some fish.

My son caught a small Catfish on Saturday.

Yesterday (Fathers day) I landed my first fish ever. Using a Watermelon Sanko I caught a large Mouth bass at Saughatuck Reservoir.

It was about 10-12in....maybe a pound (if that).

How are you fishing them

What do you mean?

One I caught yesterday I used a Jig hook (with a little weight on it) and watermelon sanko. I get it out there, let it hit the bottom and slowly bring it in (I like to give it 2 small tugs for every rotation of the wheel.

Caught the biggest catfish yesterday... ever. EVER.

Was holding my 4 year old's Spider-Man rod with a sand flea on the hook. My son took off to float around and swim when BOOOOMMMM the massive strike nearly bent the rod in two. After about 6 hours of fighting the fish, I pulled it in, and it was at least as big as the palm of my hand.

And that was it in terms of fish caught.

Bought this 2 weeks ago. Needed some minor work before I'll take her out regularly (tach was busted, had year old gas in tank, needed proper 10 micron fuel filter installed, gas tank float was sketchy and needed replacing), but we did take her out for a couple of hours and got 52mph out of her....darned smooth riding, too.

Mostly fish for bass, but catch a fair share of stripers. My rigs, meager as they may be, include two Shimano baitcasters on Diawa rods, a Curado and a Citica. The Curado is for wormin' and the Citica is my crankbait reel.

Right now, cleaning out the tank, new impeller and lower unit grease, mounting a Hummingbird sonar/gps unit, and new stereo.
