I do it. I'm full time in school and work 3 12 hour shifts a week on the weekends.

It's kinda tough because I don't get much free time to just do the things I want but I don't really have a choice.

Im taking 18-21 credit hours right now and working 40+ hours per week. Last week, I worked close to 60 hours if you factor in the 8-hour holiday pay I get. Good thing I only had 1 day of school that week.

It might be different for everyone, but right after I started full-time, my grades dropped (february 2002) and I lost my partial-scholarship. This was partly because the type of work I had to do required overtime at times and the department was extremely understaffed at the time. I was working 45-50 hours those first few weeks. That was where my grades started to suffer. It calmed down a bit but for the past few weeks right now, Ive been wokring way too much overtime, between 45-60 hours week.

Working and Schooling at the same time is very tough. I tried once during a semester. I worked part-time and average around 14 hours per week, but I still messed up my grades.

I say this is depending on the person. If you work, you will lose alot of time to have fun in college... Soo... Make your decision.

I rather be concentrate 1 thing at a time. School is 1 thing, and work is 1 thing. I will not combine it together. Atleast not full time school and full time work.

If you're really looking forward to earn some extra pocket monday, then work-study might be a good solution for you. It's pretty relaxing and you get to do your homework during free time.

Its a co-op school. You go to classes for 3 months, then work for 3 months. Its a 4.5 year program but at the end you have a job at the company you have been working for and you already have 2 years of REAL work experience and seniority. You get PAID for you work terms too, its not an internship. Usually its $10-$15 and hour 40 hours a week. It ends up being $10,000-15,000 a year towards the $25,000 tuition (its private). It is very expensive to go there but they do offer and extensive scholarship program awarding you up to $40,000 over the first 4 years (after that you have thesis terms which are cheaper). I am a freshman 1 right now on my first work term. I already did one semester of classes and it was CRAZY. They pack a whole semesters worth of stuff into 11 weeks. I bet no other college has mid terms 4 weeks into the semester!

Its a fairly selective school but if you are on AT you must be fairly intelligent . The minimum ACT score is 27 and the minimum GPA is 3 AFAIK. I would check the website for more details. The one downside of the school is the location. Flint Michigan, the armpit of america. Worst city in the US like 4 years in a row or something. The city itself is bankrupt. The plus side of that is no cops . Right around the campus its pretty nice though.

In the CA community college where I attend, whole semesters are packed into 6 weeks for some IT classes. I took a few online, with midterms 3weeks into the session and finals at 6weeks.

Working and going to school full-time wasn't the right fit for me, as I wanted my weekends open for my other activities. Working part-time and going to school full-time (online classes) works for me!

I work 40-45 hours per week and am taking 13 hours (4 classes) this semester. I "should" pull at least a 3.5 GPA.

Could manage a 3.75 if I study hard this weekend.

I've had 46 semester hours since summer of 01. All the while, working full time.
