Actually if you want to buy some canal headphones, the E5c's are not the best. Believe it or not, the E4c's are. So if you want the #1 absolute bets canal-headphone, get the E4c's.
However in your price range, I would recommend some Sony in-ears. They've got some decent offerings.
One thing to keep in mind about the EXc's, however, is they're difficult to keep in sometimes if you go mowing or running or even walking. If you invest in some custom ear-molds, however, you'll never have that problem again.
And BTW, amazon is much cheaper for these headphones.

I prefer the Etymotic ER-4 headphones. They range in price up to $300 for the pair, but they come with replaceable buds and filters which essentially make them the last pair of headphones you'll need for a looooooong time, assuming you take care of them of course. The sound reproduction is phenominal, and they also function to cancel just about all outside noise due to the snug (but extremely comfortable) fit.
My one complaint with the $ony EX71's (my brother in law has them) is that they don't stay in the ear that well during constant movement. Plus, $ony is the enemy!!! Still tho, for the price, they are prolly the best bet to hold you over till you're ready for Etymotics or Shures.
Good luck!

i must have gotten lucky with the sonys, i hear a lot that people have problems with them falling out but that hasn't been a problem for me at all. i even played paintball with them in once and had no issues.

ER4s are a great pair of IEMs, and Pricegrabber says you can get the for $150 at buydig. They're a bit different than shure headphones - they're exquisitely detailed, and are the best isolating IEMs available. They have very little bass, however, and this could be a big drawback for some people.

The thing is, not everyone's ear canals are the same. Some are wide, narrow, big, small... etc etc etc.

You guys are weak. E3Cs are a drop in the bucket compared to E500s. Look those up...
Anyway, OP - Sennheiser makes a canalphone, but the sound quality is almost exactly the same as the Creative EP-630. This is because both headphones are made by the same OEM, Sennheiser and Creative just slap their own price tag and name on it. The Senns are almost twice the price of the EP630, but they sound nearly the same.
Oh, and by the way, if you're talking about headphones, NEVER say forget the price - if there's audiophiles around you'll start getting recommendations for $3000+ headphones...

ofiraltarasy, the Sennheiser canalphones are the CX-300 (also available in silver) which are what I have. I chose them over the Creatives because the Senns have the assymetrical, j-type cord like the Sony EX51/71 which was important for me. They allow you to easily hang the canalphones around your neck when not using them, or when using only 1 side. I'm a bass freak, and the Senns are better than the Sonys in every way except maybe cordlength (senns are shorter) and looks, but those are personal preference.

You missed the memo - E500 is completely different than the E5C. You know the UE-10? You know, the $1000 custom IEM? Most reports of the E500 are saying that it almost beats out the UE10- at half the price, and being a universal IEM. Most people also say the E500 is pretty much like the E4C, except with better everything - clearer treble, more detail, and more bass.
Um... back on topic - OP, if you want canal headphones, pick the EP630 and don't look back. Don't EVER read more about headphones! You'll get sucked in, and your wallet will cry in agony...
By the way, Shure IEMs are supposed to be hung upside down, so the cable runs up and over your ear. My friend hasn't had a single problem with shures falling out.
EDIT: oh, and as for my store recommendation... earphonesolutions.com is my pick. They price match, and they're an excellent store to work with. They're also an official shure dealer, if that really means much. They're also a sponsor of head-fi, too!
