Plan to get a new car later this year, likely a 011 or 012. wanting that car/suv hybrid thing going for light hauling, easier rear access. Plus i love Honda's reliability, my Civic's been great to me over the years. And the price range for the Sport model is priced in my target area. I've been googling, from the ugly Nissan Juke to the Prius, Scion Xd, Matrix..etc and their just not strking my fancy or are more pricey. Read a lot at this site too http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com

Wanted to learn some thoughts, opinions about the Fit in particular. Everything, from your thoughts of it as a daily driver to how good the 6 speaker audio system sounds. I'll test drive one when i'm ready, but for now i'm just looking for some insider opinions.

My uncle was cross shopping the fit and fiesta. The fiesta is a bit smaller, but has a much better interior and handling qualities. Test drive both and see which you prefer, I thought the fiesta had a tad more oomph to it.

FWIW, he got a Fiesta SES Hatch

do you work for Ford? you constantly recommend the Fusion over the Accord or Civic. and now the Fiesta over the Fit. Are you on drugs??? the Fit is stylish and a Honda. it will last longer and retain in value over the years. the Fiesta can be traded in for a bag of charcoal in a few years.

Fit was a nice drive but I just didn't like how it looked on the outside, went with a Mazda 3 hatchback.

I own a 97 civic, its a good car.
Now between a 2012 focus or a 2012 civic. Focus all the way. Ford has really bumped it up. Fiesta or fit? Well preference, but as far as reliability, pretty sure they've been proven to be just as good as any new car.

My friend owns one and the only thing he complains about is taking it out on the highway. You do above 60 and you gas mileage drops way down.

Yet again you prove you're brown

No I don't work for Ford, I just advocate them because they build good cars. I've pretty much sworn off anything VW as my next car because their new NA CEO is dumb as a bag of rocks.

i'll agree that ford is a good brand. i read up on it too, fit has a bit more cargo room. i'll probably throw a system in it too so the extra room would help. I also don't feel the fiesta will hold its value as well as of yet, i may be wrong and will research the specs more.
If i was going to trade in my Civic, i could afford much better, but going to give it to my wife instead, her car is in bad shape.

Fit was a nice drive but I just didn't like how it looked on the outside, went with a Mazda 3 hatchback.

yeah i was reading a bit on it too at usnews. i'll check up on the full specs list and make a comparison. thanks

Does the Fit still not have a center armrest?

from what i understand, no but is like a $250 +/- option. which is stupid imo. My old 79 camero had a freaking bigger center console than most of these newer cars today.

no i don't think you get what you pay for these days in terms of features. My current 05 Civic doesn't even have power windows and was almost $15,000

According to Honda's site. my estimated monthly payments for purchasing would be $381.43, dealership depending of course. new cars are rediculous these days, feel like i should be living in it for that price no more than what i'm getting.

Truth. The drivetrain and component design has already been proven for a while in the UK for the Mark VI, which we just got over here (Fiesta).

Honda will probably make the Civic competitive again with the forthcoming new Civic, the current one came out in 05 as an 06 model, and the competition in compacts has increased spectacularly.

The Fusion is just a better deal than the Accord, and the nav, sync, sound system, etc, are all solidly superior to anything Honda currently offers. Fuel economy and power with the 2.5L is also quite impressive. The previous gen Fusion was good, but I don't think it was quite Accord level yet, the 2010+ though is almost a no brainer in the segment.

I've been driving an 08 Fit Sport for two and a half years. The Fit is a city car. It is great for zipping around town. The ride is rough for long distance driving due to the stupid low profile tires. If you are tall you might find that there isn't really any place to rest your left foot as the foot well curves inward (at least on the 08). The Sport has the areo kit which leads to hitting the front bumper skirt thingy on damn near everything. Mine is already missing about a third of the skirt. Get the floor mats and deck mat as the fabric is a bit cheesy.

Other than those gripes, it has been a great little car so far (25k miles).

thanks. So how loud would you say it is on the road? i hate hearing the whirring of road noise. How does the audio system sound or would you say it could use an upgrade?
Is the listed MPG accurate from your experience?

Road noise is loud as the car has little sound proofing and those silly tires.
Audio system (Sport has upgrade from base) is okay but nothing exciting.
I track mileage religiously. I've been getting 33.5 mpg with about 50/50 highway/city driving.

Also, it is cheaper to replace the tires/rims with not so low profile tires than it is to replace the four factory size tires.

I've been driving an 09 Fit sport automatic for 2 years now. I love it more today than ever before. Its a phenomenal car. It small so its great for the city. Fits (lol) into the smallest parallel spots, and has a really tight turning radius. I even love the look. IMO its beautiful.

Do i wish it was slightly better equipped.. sure.
But its a great little car. Its pure car, no fluff.

I highly recommend it.

i think it looks ok, i don't like how narrow and tall it looks though, if it were either wider or shorter it would be a tremendous help imo. However it looks better than most of these new cars these days, they either look like granny cars or teeny bubble gum cars to me. i'm in my mid 30's and noticed some people just don't look right in certain cars.
i like how the CR-Z looks and Toyota's Matrix when decked out though.
Toyota's recent shenanigan's scare me though.

I will reiterate what I posted in the past when I was responding to your incesant "buy honda" posts.

You say the same thing in every single car thread.

Are you a fanboy much?

Seriously, half your posts are just "buy honda". It makes me wonder if you're just a honda spam bot.

I had an 08 fit for about a yr and half. the new gen is much nicer IMHO. I would own again. Not a bad car if you don't care about power. I had fun driving it, it was plenty capable as a DD, very practical, but in the end, I traded up for more HP. In its class, I would test drive a fiesta before purchasing one

You do know the Fusion like won awards and stuff right?

The latest stuff out of the Ford arena is proving they are a serious contender to the imports.

So did the Chrysler 300. Don't we all wish we owned a Chrysler 300?
car of the year in 2005

Seems like the transmission might be the biggest difference. The Honda Fit has paddle shifters for the automatic, and I think those are fun as hell. I don't know if the Ford Fiesta has those. The Fiesta has a 6 speed automatic but I think the Fit was only 5.

SelectShift isn't available on the Fiesta. It is on the Focus and Fusion, although I don't really get the appeal.
