Sadly no. The 'new' Civic the essentially the same car as the old Civic. Boring style, over-priced, and under-powered compared to it's competitors. I love Honda, but they have sat on their hands for 10 years now and had zero innovation. Sure, they are reliable as heck, but other competitors are almost as reliable now and come with so much more.

Nothing boring about this car, I absolutely loved it.:wub:

I agree, the Civic still looks good. Very futuristic, and the best part is it has horizontal headlights unlike every Asian car these days.

Yep. You should see the cup holders in my corolla. There's shit spilled everywhere because the car lurches hard when it decides to randomly shifts gears. Fucking automatics are total shit (unless you can lock the gears).

my Civic 05 has a transmission feature, not sure what its called but you cannot feel it upshift or downshift at all, perfectly smooth. However it sounds to me like you have lead foot disorder. i never even spilled my coffee when i had my 1964 Malibu SS with 4.11 gears and 400sblock, 382 HP. I had a kit in my trany for hard shifts, i just let off the gas a bit when it shifted during coffee time, but something is definitely wrong with your driving or your tranny, heck i can downshift a manual to a quick stop and not spill coffee.

I've checked out several Fiestas and haven't found anything about the fit and finish that wasn't extremely well done.

For some i think its the materials and styling. Cheaper cars use hard ABS plastics and thin carpet and materials that fade easily.
One thing i can't stand is how far away the Stereo's are positioned in many cars, especially mine, i want it to be closest to me and sticking out so my arm is not outstretched, i constantly switch songs, change volume..etc so i kinda have a nerve about their position. I need steering wheel controls

I had an 09 Fit Sport. It is one awesome car in term of utility. I can tell you of all the cars you've looked at, it none of them can carry as much stuff as the honda fit.

The cargo room in this car is incredible. It came in handy numerous times when I have to haul stuff. My GF loved the car as well because she took it on a road trip with her friend and amazed at the cargo room the car have to haul their stuff.

I get about 32 mpg with it and that's pretty good, None of the SUV could come close to the FIT in term of mileage + cargo room. It's either get an suv with terrible gas mileage and get great cargo room or get a SUV with OK gas mileage and get OK cargo room. The fit does both.

The car is very cheap to maintain and ride.

The only thing I don't like about the car is the Weak A/C, the interior is too large for such a small A/C unit and it doesn't cool the car down enough to my liking. Also the car is pretty slow & was an automatic

Those reasons alone caused me to get rid of it and bought a 2011 Honda Civic Si which I am extremely satisfied with. Other than refueling it with Premium gasoline, there's nothing I hate about this Civic.

I do miss not having the honda fit though cause of the cargo room.

good read. Though my current 05 Civic ex has a weak A/C too...really sucks to hear the Fit is the same way. i wish there was a way to force it colder.
Definitely leaning on the Fit though, but gotta finish paying on this one, getting close though.

IMHO, that's likely due to the large area of windshield and windows in the car. Makes for very good visibility, but heats the car up significantly on those summer days when the sun is beating down. Will agree with the other poster that mentioned it gets pushed around a bit by the wind; nothing dangerous but a sudden gust (especially from one of the sides) will definitely wake you up from any highway hypnosis.

no my Civic has 2.5% window tint in back, 5% up front and 2.5% on the top third of the front windshield. A/C still sucks, even if car is in the shade. The air itself is not nearly as cold as my wifes 2000 Concorde or even our trucks at work. it really is a weak a/c and takes like 5 minutes to reach max cold which is basically cool air.

Uh...how do you see? Or do you never back up?

2.5% is practically opaque.

do you work for Ford? you constantly recommend the Fusion over the Accord or Civic. and now the Fiesta over the Fit. Are you on drugs??? the Fit is stylish and a Honda. it will last longer and retain in value over the years. the Fiesta can be traded in for a bag of charcoal in a few years.

So, do you work for Honda? You have yet to recommend anything but an Accord over the Fusion, or any car for that matter, and now the Fit over the Fiesta. Are you a spambot??

The Fiesta has spunk and is backed by a company which is very clearly competitive (Ford). It will last as long as any other make/model put through an identical lifecycle, and will retain its value since fuel isn't going down anytime soon.

I'm not foolish enough to think the gap between subcompacts of various automakers is going to be anything significant in a few years, or further in the future.

Get a clue. It's just a car.

---/ontopic/---

Someone, I think Zivic, had a robin's egg blue Fit at one point and I would take that any day over the Fiesta just for the lol-factor. The Fit has better looks than the Fiesta, although the Fiesta has notably better fuel economy (3-4mpg highway depending on transmission, city mileage is about the same).

Hatchbacks are great. The new Honda Fit looks pretty sharp to me for what it is. A kind of goofy econobox (but they all are), but it really doesn't look bad at all, isn't too expensive, premier quality.

lulz, I loaded a four burner BBQ into the Protege5 brand new in its box and the loader couldn't believe it.

Also carried a kitchen tabletop (you know the ones that seat six) into the car and carried it home. Mind you the corner was basically hitting the side of my head, but I got it home.

The Fit might have just become a collector's car. From the pics and video it looks the tsunami did in a whole heap of them.
