Any idea when Dell will start selling Core 2 Duo computers?

Does anyone know when Dell will start sellign Core 2 Duo computers? Need one soon and not sure if I can wait. Thanks!

Yeah, i've spent well over a grand there in the past. Quick service although i've spent hours trying to get them on the phone to get more info on something and i've heard rumours that trying to get RMA through them is a nightmare.

People were saying they'd have them on the 27th, (which I guess they had like 2) but now they're saying the 7th. I sure hope so. We're going to be buying 4 of them (probably low-end chips, but with as much power as these have I don't think it matters) and I'm getting tired of waiting.

There's one XPS-700 system selling it now and a couple workstations. Ridiculously overpriced on the Canada site, but half that in the US.

In essence, no.... it's being touted as the super-high-end right now in order to sell those overpriced XPSes.

I actually liked the old XPS series there old notebooks and old desktops they were good and generally good performance till they bought alienware than they started trying to make high performance gaming stuff which really is a waste of money.

Apple started shipping MacPro towers with Woodcrest Core2Duo Xeon (4MB L2 cache) CPUs today... so I'm guessing Dell will be doing the same maybe as soon as tomorrow.

And if you simply cannot wait and don't mind spending a little more, go to Small Business and the Workstations. The workstation "390" has several Conroe C2D options for a fairly reasonable price.

If I could justify the cost, I'd have grabbed one myself.

most of the reason I want to go with a dell is to save. I figure when they get them in their cheaper computers without the workstation card they should be able to do them for something like $600-700. If it was for me I would just build my own, but I need to pick 4 of these up for the office.

Not true. Thenew issue of PC World has a review of two new Core 2 Duos on page 23. One of them is the Dell XPS 410. The other is the ABS Ultimate X9.

The XPS 410 MSRP was $2350. The water-cooled ABS lists at $4199.

The answer is NOW! Dell.ca just introduced the 9200 using Conroe processors exclusively. Not sure about Dell USA, but likely.
