Usually just get it signed off at a police station (or CHP if they gave the ticket) and mail it to the address on the back along with $25 (if it says to pay any amount).

Pretty much. ANY cop in the state can sign off on the repair, but it's usually easier to get one to do so if you to to the police station, CHP office, or sheriff's office rather than stopping a beat cop and asking him to do it for you.

You USUALLY have 30 days to comply with the mandated repair. If you go past 30 days, you usually just get the full ticket for whatever they wrote the ticket for...in your case, tinted windows.
BTW, you usually only get ONE fix-it ticket for the same problem on the same car.

I didn't know a fix-it ticket was up to $25 nowadays...wasn't too long ago there was no charge...then the DMV realized they were missing out on a possible source of revenue, and it cost $5.00...then a few years later, they upped it to $10.

Hmm how much is the second ticket?

Whats the law on front tints in CA? Im hearing diff things, some say none at all and some say 50-70%..

I got 20% on my fronts but it looks much darker than it is because of my black interior. A friend of mine got the same but his interior is tan so its not too bad.

Just wait until you get the real ticket. Removing your tint would be ludicrous.

Myself and my SO both drive illegally modified cars in CA, but we know someone personally who can confirm our fixes if a ticket is issued.

If you don't know anyone, just pay the damn ticket and be on your way.

1) Fix it
2) Have officer see repairs and sign ticket
3) Mail signed ticket, $25 check, & repairs receipt to your local court.

I got a fix it ticket a few months ago, it was a hassle when I went to try and take care of it. Any police/CHP officer can sign off on it, but most won't. I found about 5 at the gas station for police they had at the court house where I was at. All were too busy to spend 10 seconds looking at my car and writing their badge number in. The CHP at the court house will sign off for it, and it might be different in different areas. But in Chula Vista they wanted $15. I didn't want to give them $15 for 30 second work, so I finally found an officer who signed off, and go figure he didn't even look at my car to verify I had corrected the infraction.

Either cops are lying or they just don't know much, but a lot I asked to sign off acted like they couldn't and it had to be a CHP dude. I'd recommend mailing it in, I stood in line for a loooong time to pay it.

Not paying it will bump it from a $25 fix it ticket to a $300'ish full blown ticket. You might be able to find a cop like I did who signed off without checking the car, but I wouldn't count on it. If you don't pay the full ticket it will go to collections and put a ding on your credit score.

The tint law in CA for the front is zero tint that darkens your windows at all. I think there are exceptions for special cases where the person has a certain medical condition where their eyes are extra sensitive to the sun. But aside from that even 10% can get you a fix it ticket if the cop wants to be a dick. I'm not sure what use clear tint would have, but you could always downgrade to that.

Got letter in the mail which was pretty interesting.

It says I can either show proof of fix and pay $25, or not show proof of fix and pay $190...

I had a fix it ticket for my front license plate not being properly mounted. I had a random cop at the courthouse sign mine the day of court.

Yep, and if you don't fix it and get another ticket for the same thing, the "fix-it" option goes away.

Portable steamer will remove the tint - go slowly.

get it signed off by the police, find a station open on weekends - all you need is the Badge number.

Pay the $25 fine by mailing in the signed off ticket.

Alternatively, you can pay the entire fine and not remove the tint.

Stupid cops and there front-plate requirements.

fix it get it signed off pay small fine move on

Supposedly a friend of mine knows someone to sign it. If not I might just pay the $190.. It costs me about $90-100 to remove it in the first place and if I want to put it back it'd be another $100 plus time wasted for them doing it.

I needed to get mine signed off at an actual fix it station near the metropolitan courhouse in DTLA.

It's literally a drive-through where you go and a cop looks at the fixit and signs it off. YMMV.
