I haven't seen many people posting about the KR7A around here (I hope that is a good thing ) but was wondering how many Anandtechers have this board? Raid version or non raid. I'm getting the non raid version for christmas and am looking very forward to getting it and overclocking the crap out it

Thanks

Been running my KR7A Raid board since, last Friday, works flawlessely.
Theyr'e quality went up a notch, replaced my KT7 Raid board.
Running at 1.730 right now
I'm totaly happy with mine.
Less posts is a good sign for Abit.

I put my machine together sunday... It is working swimmingly no overclocking except I am running 140mhz FSB and reduced my multiplier to stay at 1700+ speed. It runs around 50c (w/sys temp 28) under a full load at 133 or 140. I guess the boxed hsf isnt worth a darn.
I was impressed with the temp. alarm and adjustable auto shut off in the event of cpu fan failure. gonna get my hads on a sk6 not cause i am gonnna overclock it just cause I am not happy with the pos that came with the cpu
it went together well I installed the cpu hsf and ram with the board out of the case.. I takes some force to seat the ram.. I actually got a pop out of it and I had it sitting on plywood so the board wouldnt flex or break
I havent been let down by abit yet and this is #3 spanning 3 years... I dont know where the inuendoes are comming from did they have some problems with a board in the past? If so I guess someone has to do bleeding edge technology stuff..... Abit the first to bring you
"CPU soft menu" "the first to bring ata 133 onboard raid"
Enjoy your new board it is gonna be awesome if its any thing like mine..

That's great to hear I'm even more excited now. My Alpha PAL8045 is sitting under the tree as we speak and waiting for the board and the AXP. My first and only mobo has been an Abit BX6 rev2 and it's running great, just showing it's age now and could use some more speed. Might build another box and make it a server or something.

I am putting together a KR7A system right now...literally I'm just waiting for scandisk to finish on my drive and then it's off to install Win2K. I was just messing around using a 98 boot disk and was able to bring it up at 170mhz FSB. I'll know later this weekend how actual OS does at that speed. So far I really like this board and have also been pleasantly suprised to see so few posts regarding it. I almost bought the Epox but there were just TOO many issues...apparently even Newegg has stopped carrying them.

I'm not sure what the AXIA will do (it has posted at 1.3ghz and I expect it to run at least 1.4). It's not a XP but if I can get 1.4ghz for $65 I'm not gonna complain. I was pretty happy just to have the cpu work at all. I had a repair person from where I work solder the L1 bridges for me. I wasn't sure how that was gonna turn out. Apparently she did a good job cause it seems to run just fine

Off to check the status of scandisk.

that's very encouraging. since the days of the original k6, i've always been a die-hard abit fan, but their boards have recently not been quite up to par. i hope this board will once again be the overclocking champion that their old boards once were.

Koch,

I'm using 2x256mb PC2100 by Crucial (dimm0 & 3) at default settings. I haven't started tweaking yet. My CDrom failed and then I started my work week (Fri-Sun) so it's on hold until Monday. Bear in mind I'm just booting from a Win98 boot disk. I don't have any other peripherals besides the video card in. I have no idea how it will behave once I get OS installed and get my NIC, Audigy, and modem installed. It is still very promising though

I'll know more this week.
