Any midiland s2-4100 users out there?

I been using these for quite some time without any major issues, well up until now. What I thought would be more than adequate packing turned out to be a disaster, with a tweeter from one of the satellites clearly displaced from its socket; I can hear it dangling inside when I shake the satellite, and there is no audible high freq coming out of this tweeter with music playing.

There are only 4 screw holes on the back to access the wire clamps, but it appears near impssible to get to the tweeter from there. Is there a way to take off the grills on this thing?

Last thing I attempted was emailing midiland, and they are apparantely ignoring me atm.
Am I just SOL? I really would love to see these babies back in working condition; they are no full-fledged bookshelf killers but better than any "multimedia speaker" sets I heard including the legendary m200.



The guy I got my bed from let me take his altec ADA880s for $20. Not too shabby for what I paid but boy they sound horrible compared to the other two I already have. They are going to my buddy's house, he likes them more than what he has now

I had success taking off the grills, just simply get a tool that can stick through the grill holes and simply pull off the grill. An ice pick might work. You should be able to reinstall the tweeter if the mounting holes aren't stripped.

You sure don't see many users sporting these classic midilands anymore. They are great set, unfortunately one my satellite mid-woofers were blown; I was never able to find a replacement. I'm currently still using my subwoofer mated with some Insignia bookshelfs I bought on special from Best Buy, it gets the job done.

Wow, that sure was a longshot...
I was afraid grills would get messed up, but now that I think of it they look quite durable. Thanks el mucho, gonna give it a shot tonite

heh, the grills came off quite easily in fact. The real problem, though, is now that I look at it, the magnet came off of the tweeter assembly. I crosschecked with the other tweeter to make sure the rest of the satellite unit is functioning correctly; when I take the tweeter from the other non-damaged satellite, the satellite works just fine.

I kept trying to put the magnet and the diaphragm back together with no luck.
If anything, I will have to look for a replacement part for the broken tweeter, I suppose. The tweeter in question is a 1/2-inch poly-aluminum dome tweeter.

the price hardly justifies it, but we can stay hopeful that some of the parts may still in circulation

update: ordered replacement parts for DV32 from BIC America and everything is fine now!
I fell in a newfound love for the speakers, after pairing them up with the Swan m200s. The swans fill up the mids and make the sound lushier, sweeter while the midilands provide more definition on the top and the bottom end. Totally non-fatiguing.

Glad you found some replacements. So BIC actually provided you with replacement tweeter ? How much did they charge? Thanks.

I still have the receipt somewhere I think, will let you know when I get home.
Actually, they made a boo boo and sent me a wrong pair at first. Shipping it back to them wasnt worth it so I just reordered. The tweeter elements were the same though, just different size of the panel they are latched onto. If I was feeling crafty, I could have just sawed off the sides to make it fit inside the grille... oh well

Any of you guys willing to part with your control module? I found a set of these from someone who had them long packed away and really love the sound, but don't have the control module so can only use the mic input. I would love to buy the control module if you still have it and would be willing to part with it.
