Play a game your like and with friends......Playing any game online with people is compedative and people love to ruin someone else day. You could also play games that are group play but no pvp/vs of some sort, just a co op. Borderlands ?

World of Tanks? It's in beta right now and will be F2P with microtransactions when the game is released late Feb/March.

Most of the player base is poor so you'd blend in?

I would say Guild Wars, but there are still dickbags around. the good thing is, you don't necessarily need to worry about working with other people for 90% of the game, if you don't want to.

Free to play games are usually full of annoying selfish kids, since they don't have access to a credit card to play a subscription MMO.

I don't think EVE would meet your requirements. You would be what they refer to as fresh meat. But I suspect you know that already. And this is not a knock against my favourite MMO.

Fallen Earth might work if you like that type of thing. Otherwise PVE WOW might work. Honestly, tho if your worried about bullying, MMOs are going to be a hard crowd to deal with. But good luck.

Cheers,

Well, but in Eve, everyone is fresh meat for someone. Sticking to high-sec for a few months to learn the ropes and get some skills and seeing what you like doing in the game. Then move up the chain, join a player corp, do some wormhole sites, or PvP. Again, once you hit about 6-8 months you no longer have much of any disadvantage to someone in battlecruisers or so, the biggest difference would be in tech 2 ships and/or being able to fly multiple race ships, not just one.

As ridiculous as this may sound... EVE Online... Maybe... If you stay in high sec empire space and know and understand the rules and mechanics of the game.

LOl Eve Online …. High Sec space… Okay well sure if you keep away from any major system where the high sec Griefers congregate, stay out of any asteroid belts where Griefers congregate….. Don’t run a loaded industrial through any populated area where the griefers hang out…. Well you get the idea.

Look I played Eve Online for a LONG time as part of a PvP alliance and I was almost constantly at war with one corporation or another. For pure heart pounding, adrenaline pumping PvP fun I have NEVER played a game that equals Eve online. After an epic fleet engagement my hand would be shaking so badly I could hardly move the mouse. Fun? Heck yes but my poor heart just couldn’t take it LOL

That being said the game is FULL of griefers and scammers that will hit you in High sec as often as anywhere else so their friends can salvage your destroyed ship.

If you play Eve your better off getting into a low sec corp that will work with you, protect you while you learn the ropes, and make it possible to make some serious ISK for ships and modules.

Eve is NOT for everyone, and it’s not a place for those looking for a simple relaxing and stress free environment. Eve is not a feel good, everyone sings kum bi ya around the camp fire sort of game…..

Yes I miss it sometimes LOL

Every MMO/Online multiplayer is like that. You have the insurmountable task of finding some friends who can put the same amount of hours into the game as you can.

I'm surprised there isn't more PC resources for grouping in the wealth of games we have available to us. Well for hardcore there is, but for people that just want to play a little here or there I've never seen such a site.

Lord of the Rings Online? It's fairly easy to play and you don't really have to worry that much about stats, builds, min/maxing, etc, unless you just want to.

It's also free to play (has microtransactions and subscription options). I haven't really played it much in the 6 months since it went F2P, but the community used to be very above average compared to other MMOs I've played.

I'll second LOTRO, however be warned...some people in the community on that game are so mamby-pamby I actually got a ban of a few days for quoting a South Park episode using the word "nagger" in world chat. Yes...seriously. It really happened. In general though, most people I've encountered playing LOTRO are friendly and helpful. It changed a little for the worse when they went Free 2 play and a bunch of mouth-breathers from WoW (like me ) loped on over to see what was up. But I think it's recovering.

The serious and well-done MMO's that I've played all have something like this built in but nobody ever uses it. Having voice chat built in is also pretty common now but hardly anybody ever uses that either except when you are playing with actual friends/guild-mates. I guess it feels like having a phone conversation with strangers or something /shrug.

Which actually basically totally defeats the purpose of this being an online game as I discovered pretty quickly myself...but that maybe only applies to the PvE part of the game. The PvP requires other..well...players. But if you're worried about getting beat up on by cyber bullies then you probably aren't looking for a PvP MMO.

I LOVE Borderlands, in concept...but it's a total crap shoot when you look for a game online unless you have real life friends to play along with and you all want to progress through together. Plus Borderlands is not really an MMO in the traditional sense. It's a FPS with a role playing like leveling style and quest system but no persistent world. There are no dedicated servers, at least that I know of, and you can have at most 4 players. The enemies scale in difficulty, and the loot in quality, according to how many players there are.

In Eve Online, players will eat your heart and then complain that they didn’t get a fortune cookie for dessert.

The reason ibex said this game is so he has someone to cyber bully. He is tired of being picked on. The rest of his psycho babble bs statement is what his therapist tells him how to deal with getting bullied.

Looks like started an argument here Anyway thanks for all the recommendations - I am not Worried about bullying LOL I just can't be assed with the games such as wow and any co-op game where you have people that are all pretty good at the game already.

In reply to the person above that thinks wow is easy I would agree with you but anyone joining the game now has little chance of joining a good guild and without that will find it impossible to get good gear or get practice at harder instances. This is due to most ppl only now doing them for guild alts or specific items etc. Due to this you get all the Must know tactics stuff in the trade chat and you get kicked when you don't lol Thats really what I mean by bulling - the intolerance of other players of those trying to learn. Maybe its different on the US servers

RatboyX's post perfectly describes EVE. Perhaps not really bullying but it can get a bit trying. Fun game and I miss it greatly. OP: I understand your concerns about MMO but honestly try not to get too concerned about the social and just try to enjoy the gameplay. WOW is a pretty easy game to play. Yes, finding a good guild can make even the best players want to rage quit. Perhaps try to form your own? Maybe it will never be top ranked but at least you can select the personalities that fit your own. Add a voice com server (TS or Vent) and you can make it decent. And, I know for some games you want to avoid the forums because alot of the QQ'ng will ruin the fun. As they sometimes ignorance is bliss...
