Any monitors you are looking forward to in 2016?

I've mostly been using 24" 1920x1200 (or 1080) LCDs for the past 10 years. I've used a 27" 4k and while it's nice, it didn't feel like a big upgrade size wise. So in 2016 I wanna step up to a really big LCD (32" or larger), 4k or 5k, and display port 1.3, basically something that'll last me the next 10 years or so. Anyone in the same boat? What specific models are you eyeing? CES is next week, maybe my next purchase will be announced then.

I just want this - http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronic...nts=p_n_size_browse-bin:3547808011|3547806011

It not a gaming monitor persay but out of all the non-curve UW 21:9 1440p monitor, this one is the best looking and I love the apple looking stand. I also like that it has two HDMI port though I can't really hook up my PS4 or Xbox One to it. You do need a display port on your GPU to get 60 hertz since the hdmi port is only 1.4.

Perfect price point would be $300. Of course the Acer X34 is the best gaming UW monitor on the market but I think it look ugly.

Edit: I also like to buy stuff a year or two later cause it too expensive otherwise.

I'd really like a curved model >=32" with 2560x1440 or higher and would prefer 16:9 over 21:9. I want to be able to place large windows side by side and see the contents of both of them without any overlap like I have now with my 27" 1920x1200p monitor. On my 46" 1080p tv the second window, my etextbook, is so bunched up that the actual textbook cannot be read with a directory and search box open. As a matter of fact the text doesn't even appear on my screen which is a real waste of space.

I'm eagerly awaiting TFTCentral's review of the new Acer Predator Z35. Should finished any moment now. I've been waiting for that monitor for 6+ months now. I'm not gonna buy one before I see a good review. All the IPS gaming-monitors of 2014 were heavily disappointing. So I won't take any risks before I spend 1100 euros on a new monitor.

The bad thing is: after years of playing loads of videogames, it looks like I will have hardly time to play any games during the next year(s).

Not for 2016 since I just picked up a new gsync monitor last month, but I am hoping to see some 4k OLED screens hit the market before long. It's not something I will consider until a single GPU can drive it adequately.

I've been holding out for a 34" curved ultrawide since they came out. I was hoping Samsung would announce a follow up at CES to their S34E790C but using a PLS panel instead of the current VA.

Right now it's a choice been IPS with blacks that suffer and the bleed/glow of IPS, or VA with great blacks and no glow with poor viewing angles and less color reproduction (I've also read reviews that text isn't crisp on the Samsung 34" VA panel).

I had a 27" 1440p Samsung S27B970D PLS monitor briefly and it was great. The blacks of a VA, color reproduction and viewing angles of an IPS with no backlight bleed/glow ... I was really impressed.

So far I haven't even seen anything about new Samsung monitors at CES. I'm hoping something gets mentioned at some point soon.

I tried to order a HP 34c this morning at microcenter where they're currently $599.99 but something went awry and their system didn't properly process my cc leading to a big mess and a disputed charge with my bank.

70 inch freesync model or even 65 inch freesync model. Whoever although I bet it will be Korea.

I have a pixel perfect Korean IPS that runs at 120hz (got it from Overlord). While Gsync would be nice, my main complaint is that the contrast ratio is plain bad. Unfortunately, no monitor being released will be any better in this regard. Until OLED finally hits, I can't see myself buying another monitor, especially 1200 bucks for one with bells and whistles, knowing it's going to have a garbage 1000:1 contrast ratio that will look awful in dark games with a lot of shadow detail.

I'm looking forward to OLED coming out and being too expensive and crappy, that way it can get refined and come out again and be less expensive and not crappy.

Yep, probably. The days of image burn-in will probably be back.

Occulus Rift... no not really but, serious question. Is BenQ's Color-Shift free technology (bypassing the PWM and stuff) and 144hz basically accomplishing the same thing? Basically does 144hz work to relieve stress from your eyes just as CSF does? IS a monitor that takes advantage of BOTH a possibility?

I'm looking to replace my three 23" displays in Eyefinity configuration with a single ultrawide monitor like the x34. It's still just a little too pricey though.

For *sync, ultrawides are still a bit pricey, although the xr341ck is much cheaper than the x34. Even though I'm somewhat price inelastic, being a Fury cheaper is pretty noticeable. If you don't need *sync, then things get a lot more interesting. Stuff like the LG 34UM95 and Dell U3415W have both been on screaming deals once in a while. The no thunderbolt model of the former has been spotted up for $500, for example, where it starts competing with three screen setups for price, let alone quality. If you're interested, I'd start watching the prices.

I like having 3 screens for all of the space but Eyefinity definitely has its setbacks. There are a lot of games that support it, and a lot of games that support it with tweaks like Flawless Widescreen but I still run into issues from time to time.

The same could also probably be said for ultrawide monitors... since the native ratio is not widely supported yet. The hardware is definitely there, but it's the software that kind of limits you.

A week ago I would've said a Dell P2415Q with tiny borders, but after CES announcements I'm not buying anymore LCDs.

So 24" 4K OLED with tiny borders is what I want now.

VA has around 2500:1-4000:1.

I have the 32" BenQ VA and it's around 2500:1 - 2800:1. The contrast is pretty good, even compared to my OLED phones

21:9 support isn't bad, the only games I play that don't support it properly are the world of _____ games, and they can be run windowed with an arbitrary aspect ratio. Much wider than ultrawide is deep in the land of diminishing returns, I barely use the 27" 1440s I have next to my ultrawide at home and would probably just unplug them if I didn't run RPGs on weekends and have a ludicrous number of PDFs up at once for that.

Then again eyefinity would drive me up a wall because it doesn't play nice with snap at all. I'd turn it on for games and leave it off the rest of the time.
