But is not from logitech? I've been in love with the shape since I got my MX500 almost 12 years ago. But the reliability has slowly gone to shit with each generation. I've gone through 8 mice. MX500, MX518(1600 DPI), MX518(1800 DPI), G7 x2, and G400 x3. My original MX500 after 12 years still works though and I'd happily use it but I need something with higher DPI.

Any suggestions?

I handled a G400 for the first time a couple days ago and it looks and feels like they cheaped out a bit with materials - compared to the MX500 and MX518 I have at home. I WAS wanting one, but now I'm not so sure. What I really want is a mouse made of premium materials like polished wood and stainless steel, with replaceable innards.

To answer the question, don't know of any others out there with the same shape.

Why? I'm using the G400 and appreciate that it is light and textured. Compared to my Intelimouse Explorer it is good because the G400 surface doesn't peel off. Compared to the Steelseries Sensei I like that it doesn't give me sweaty hands. Compared to the Deathadder, the G400 doesn't have slippery sides. I like that the G400 isn't form over function.

It's just my out-of-the-box impression. No texture, no rubbery coating, extra-thin cord, feather-weight, and just pure plastic flimsiness. Clicking the buttons yields minimal tactile feedback and an ultra-tinny click sound. Feels like a cat toy basically. I do like the shape though.
I haven't used the G400 yet, as I'm waiting for other system parts to come in the mail.

The G400's retail box bore French/English labels so maybe this one was intended for sale outside the U.S. and thus built to a different standard, maybe even manufactured at a different plant? Or maybe Logitech doesn't make 'em like they used to. But that's purely conjecture on my part - like I said before this is my first time handling one.

Totally agree! Ever since the G5, materials and finish has slid...while price has creeped up. Shame on you Logitech!!

G400 is $28 on Amazon, how is that price creep?

Also, I think that lightweight with easy to actuate buttons is what they are going for. Heavy with premium materials may have a premium feel, but I find I get worse k/d with them.

I've given up looking. I bought a refurbished MX518(1st gen, No Angle Snapping, 1600 dpi) for 50$ from amazon.

Logitech products have gone severely downhill. I don't think I will be buying another logitech mouse, headset, and/or keyboard anytime soon.

I'm still using my trusty G5, and probably will until it dies. I've checked out the G400 and agree that it feels cheaply constructed. My disappointment with Logitech has also increased in the past few years. :|
